WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 His 3p% was respectable prior to his injury. If you only look at box score stuff for your opinion you’re not going to like a lot of people lolAnd yeah, I don’t care for many of the guys we are targeting so far. SamIam Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 Just do whatever you have to do to get Conwell and Rice. Get a shooter and a rim protector off the bench. If we do that, I will be excited for next year. Quote
mike vannice Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 If by chance we are able to add both Myles Rice and Kaanan Carlyle can they play together? Quote

IUFAN1976 Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 Hickman seems like the only one we are targeting that is a knock down shooter, everyone else is more of a driver and a slasher. Carlyle only shot 32% from 3, but he can improve that. Didn’t VO shoot way less than that his freshman year? I do think Carlyle has some upside though cybergates 1 Quote
mike vannice Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 Ryan Conwell sure looked impressive last night. Do we know for sure he is entering the portal? ebridges24 1 Quote

Both around 6'3 185. They could definitely play together. I prefer Rice, mostly because both have three years of eligibility but Rice is already two years older. I think Carlyle could be what Rice is in a few years. They both shot fairly high volume of 3's, Carlyle at a slightly higher clip, but I like Rice's form more, lots of room for growth. Rice was shooting fine from three until a stretch to end the season where he went like 2/27 on threes. Both around 80% from FT. Both would be good additions. thebigweave 1 Quote

Another poor shooting guard. This staff has no sense of direction in constructing a roster. They are just attempting to land the highest ranted recruits regardless of how they fit or what role they play for the team. This team desperately needs perimeter shooting but it doesn't appear we are targeting enough of these players, and I won't be surprised if we are still a poor 3 point shooting team next year. The reason why Purdue has been so successful, is that Painter has identified his style and recruits players who will fill certain roles. He targets a 7'0" big man and surrounds them with perimeter shooting. Constructing a roster and building a good team becomes much harder when there is 0 planning. IU shouldn't have this much trouble especially with all the NIL money they have. MemphisHoosier, Home Jersey, thebigweave and 8 others 11 Quote

I'd be shocked if he doesn't enter the portal. The real question is does he follow Schertz to SLU. I think at least Avila will but we should have a good shot at Conwell. Poor ISU is going to be gutted unfortunately. Quote

The types of shots he takes, being a FR... yeah 32% is more than solid. I would consider everyone else we are talking to as "someone that can get their own", which lord we need more of JUST as much as we need "shooting". thebigweave, Demo, Home Jersey and 6 others 9 Quote

It’s pretty much throw it in the post and go from there. Quote

He’s about everything we need out of a guard other than a pure pg/dynamic ballhandler type. I would like him more than someone like Johnell Davis won in not as high on. Quote
