1st kid they’ve been attached to that I just wouldn’t want any part of. He may be a good kid but his path for the last 5 years has been a mess.

Has it? Committed to Pitino at Iona (was Walter Clayton’s backup his freshman season), followed Pitino to St. John’s where he got hurt and subsequently burried on the depth chart, and then moved cross town to Hofstra where he lit up CAA the last 2 years. I like his teammate Preston Edmead more, but I don’t see anything terribly wrong with his trajectory. Only thing odd is a Dallas kid playing for 3 different Long Island schools.

At this point I would imagine Dolson was in the big donors’ ears vouching for DeVries, saying stuff something along the lines of “I understand the results were unacceptable, but look, this man can coach. I swear to you. You saw how much talent was lacking on the roster, and he still won 9 games in a stacked B1G.”

Whatever they’re selling, it’s working. Bring us Sherrell, another big or two, a sharpshooting win and a backup PG.

Started out at a Texas Prep school, spacing which one, and got kicked out for something. Ended up at Huntington Prep. Despite having a pretty nice list he committed to either Oregon State or Washington St, can’t remember which, without visiting anywhere. Left Huntington Prep for SoCal Academy but never actually played there. Decommitted from whichever school it was really late in the process and somehow ended up at Iona. And then followed the college path we know about. Not seeing he’s a bad kid at all and I’m sure he’ll land very well. But the whole thing feels way too shaky for me when there are plenty of more solid alternatives.

I think he might also bring up the fact that a coach up north just won the national championship with a transfer starting 5. That it can be done if you spend the right amount of money on the right people for your system
