Moot point because he's probably not going to go for a bench role unless it comes with a somewhat sizable pay day, which I doubt we are allocating for a bench guard.

What about Owen Freeman as a big. I would think he would come cheap, since he only played 12 minutes a game for Creighton. He always tore us up when he was at Iowa.

The baseline level of skill/athleticism is definitely higher this time around. If you’re expecting a final four caliber roster then you’ll definitely be disappointed. If you’re happy with making the dance next year you should be encouraged.

Don’t know if this is already posted, but in case it isn’t this is Adragna’s IU portal tracker. Last year he did a really good job of staying on top of it. Nothing super involved but it keeps all of the names in 1 place.

That said field of 68 changes their mind all the time. But does tell me we’re willing to partake in the bidding war.

I don't consume Field of 68 content (or avoid it as much as possible anyway) ... do they frequently speculate on transfer destinations? Surprised to see them report something like this.

Would flip the sentiment around here pretty quick if it happens. I can't see it but boy would I love to be wrong.

The general take on Field of 68 is they’re outlets for favored agents. They legit have good sources but sources with a business angle. They like to run pass blocking for connected agents (ie, agencies that rep high end recruits and coaches). So sometimes they’re willing to put things out to drive pay raises and more NIL dollars.

The optimism will rise dramatically if we start portal with Sherrell, Burton, Mustaf.

Sherrell or Burton would’ve been our best transfer last year and Mustaf and Olsen are very serviceable players. The narrative would change immediately which then leads to a position of power filling out the roster.

Also, as happened last year, the first wave of great players is not always the best group in the portal. I think we’re seeing across the board that there are far less early commits and still high quality guys jumping in today.

Michigan getting Estrella will no doubt work out well for them, but he may end up halfway down the list of “good bigs” when the portal entry stage is over.

Great, now I'm at the point where if we don't land Burton and Sherrell, this place is gonna burn. 

At least the offseason is fun, more than I can say about the regular season.
