Great would-be recruiting improvements for 2026 being experienced during the basketball season. ..and really building something towards another banner.

(Great would be a serious upgrade in referees and fairly calling games consistently home and away and in the first half and second half.  But I dream.  Never mind.)

I understand why some would say it is great.  Things are relative.  

To me, great is competing with the best routinely, and bringing it all home once in a while.

I am not going to accept all of the hype.  But I am intrigued.  And I will cheer the team.

My expectations are a little lower than others on this site.  I hate to admit that.  I usually am a positive...cup is half-full of BS..kind of guy.  I just do not think that we will get even a sight of that rabbit on the first try this season.

The fact that DD is interested in both coming back isn't a great look. Neither entered the portal and both requesting waivers, Leal just recently. This roster smh

I would prefer a player defending a bad coach to the press than one calling them out.  Issues should be handled behind closed doors.

plus it would be dumb on a kid's part to publicly call out a coach and gain a toxic label trying for that next NIL payday...

I’d rather have players who don’t get blown out by 25 points at home and then throw shots at the fanbase during the postgame presser/get into spats with IU media personalities on Twitter. The program’s culture desperately needs a 180 and I really don’t think Leal/Goode are the guys who will contribute to that.

I want absolutely nothing to do with Anthony Leal for next season. He is a player in theory who I should love - hometown kid, plays hard defense, stayed loyal to the program….. but I’m sorry it just never clicked for me. All his loyalty, etc. always felt performative to me. Always said the right things and yet we had some pretty underwhelming seasons with him as one of our main leaders. Not that my opinion matters, but I’d rather bring Dallas James back quite honestly.

I’m far from a Leal fan and don’t really want him on the team next year at all but saying they’d prefer Dallas James to him is a pretty transparently unserious take, lol

Wanting Dallas James over him is crazy but Leal is not an “elite” defender. Leal plays his a** off and is smart but very limited. Serious question for the die hard leal truthers….if he were to hit the portal today what type of school or schools do you think would be interested and would he see the floor? I personally believe it would be like a butler type level and I don’t think his numbers would be much better than they were here. If leal wasn’t a hometown kid and Indiana me basketball he wouldn’t even be considered. Post his stats and what he’s done over the years, don’t put a face or name to them, and let’s act like he just committed to IU. This place would be ready to fire devries tomorrow or question why and how he helps.

I’m assuming OP was kidding about Dallas James but he’s actually awful at basketball if you’ve ever actually watched him play haha i think he got in the exhibition games and it was really bad

Where are these "die hard Leal truthers" other than the Chicken Sammy? 

idc about his numbers, there is so much more to a basketball game than the box score. 

But, I'm always down for an ELITE defender in our 11th-13th spots. Limited? Offensively? yeah I can see that, but other than shooting a basketball, Leal is a better player in every aspect of the game than Goode, as an example.

Big time P4 schools would be very interested if Leal was willing to start the year as a 10th-12th man IMO.

Two years in a row he played his way into the rotation from that original expectation.
