They have a new social media person so it may have changed, but that’s what they did in the past at least. I think someone shared that Assembly Call will be streaming it too?

The bolded above is true. It is also not what you said in your original post. I went ahead and looked it up. Currently there are 5 teams that have been consistently ranked this season with 4 or more transfers. Illinois, Kansas, Alabama, South Carolina and UNC. Of those, only South Carolina (52) and UNC (32) were ranked outside the top-30 in high school recruits.  Florida is the only team with 6 who you could say have been a success, I will give you that. Ole Miss also falls into the decent with 6 category (we know who their coach is). Most have been awful, with some decent coaching jobs sprinkled in, but mostly awful. To take it a step further, there are exactly 2 teams that have been consistently ranked with 5 or more transfer: Kansas and UNC. That's the list. Those are the examples, and to use your words, we most certainly not Kansas or UNC.

Here is the important piece. All of the "mostly ranked" teams I mentioned above sans South Carolina (57th 3 recruits) have top-20 high school recruiting classes for 2024 with a minimum of 3 commitments. Alabama, UNC and Kansas are 6, 7, 8 respectively. This is where the argument breaks down. Exactly no one is depending on the portal exclusively. So unless IU is on the cutting edge of a brave new world (LOL), this is why people are skeptical, to put it lightly.

@Ngw7183 I just said I already did. See above. I’m not the business of claiming I said something I never said. From about 25 pages ago. I never said people aren’t using the transfer portal. I said they aren’t using it exclusively.

Turns out Miller Kopp's Indiana VS Everybody sweatshirt should read Simons & Cooks vs Everybody. Trey will be back, that's big. A "friend of a friend" lets call him "Tom A." (Not Allen) is telling Quinn to lace 'em up like it's '76 and meet him in the paint. Because he is going hard down there.

Tuesday is still happening. David v. Goliath is a memorable story because of its underdog nature. It also sets a precedent for hope to beat the odds when things are looking a certain way. Anticipate we will hear more shortly after. Will solidify what I know with multiple sources before posting here again. Hopefully Thursday. Probably Friday. Thats not to say there will be anything official or qualifying as "news" by the textbook definition. We might only learn more of the context and 'why' underneath what would be a monumentally catastrophic course of action for the program (notable people also share this view). My belief as of now is that can still be avoided. All bets off if BTT goes how many think. Root for a big W today. Just an opinion, I think winning now helps. Controversial? As of now the smart money is still on Woodson. Will the line move again?

Ok got a few more calls before tip-off. Will the sleeping giant wake up or hit snooze on the alarm again? I encourage decision makers to stroll around Showalter Fountain and recall what this program is capable of when at its best.

Neither program has proven recruiting multiple 5 stars works anymore. One or Two maybe. I get it, we would be happy with what they have until we were not. The portal is the way to get IU “back”

I know nobody wants to believe this but easy to research on 24/7 Portal site. You can look at any team, who has transferred in and out. You can then select each year. Majority (not all) of the top 15 the last 2 years are bringing in 4/5 guys yearly.

I actually agree with you on this point IF (big if) you can get the right guys. Also, no one will convince me EVER that we would be better without McNeely on whatever roster we make next year.

But im a big proponent of the transfer portal too. More than most fans. However many other schools are doing the same.

So Woody will have to learn a bunch of names in a short order of time and pray his talent evaluation is better than Ledlum and Sparks.

For me… give that warchest of NIL funding to a quick witted basketball brain that thinks modern basketball.

Watching his HS games after Mom got IU involved, that was absolutely the comp I had. The handle and the movement, particularly laterally, obviously need to improve, and Melo is singular, but he can be really good.

It does seem like everything's tightened up, his shot fake and methodically getting to the rim, are definitely a big improvement. Everything has a purpose now. Although his help defense and awareness on rotations are still lacking, his individual on man D seems to have improved.

Good grief Ya Boy.  My 75-year old eyesight doesn't read between the lines.

I feel sorry for Gallo. Glutton for punishment but Woody loves him. If he doesn’t play point next year, I guarantee Gallos poor shooting will be a node of contention for our roster next season.

Woody can always say he didn't know Gallo was such a poor shooter.

1.  There are examples of teams mostly loading up through the portal and winning next year.  St John’s is an example although they are basically still just a bubble team but they only kept one player.

2.  The disagreement on this is whether it is the best path to do so + if Woodson is capable of doing it.  Ngw thinks he is, most of the rest of the board does not.

Really is that simple and neither side is changing their feels on that.
