So far my top two would be  1. Pearl 2. Oats 3. May

Pearl just knows Ball and he can at least give us the correct perspective of what it takes to build and maintain a program. Plus if you think about it there is some upside. He would now work for blue blood program for his first time (at least I think we can be again). He has the southern recruit scene covered and with the Midwest ground that could give  us a chance for a final four run in a six year window.  Age is just a number for me but context matters. I was negative about Woodson but I wouldn’t be for Pearl. Pearl loves the entirety of college basketball.

Oats is a younger version of Pearl and May, with a proper defensive assistant coach, can work as well. May at least has humility and doesn’t mind readjusting.

LCS teaching you to count? :D

I just wish the timeline would line up for us where the right guy was the right age with the right pedigree. Any examples of this elsewhere where a job opens up and the perfect guy for that place is also available?

Obviously there have been lots of good hires in hindsight but a hypothetical would be like Dusty is coming off a few really good years at a high major right when the IU job comes available?

No way IU would agree to that. I think the direction we would like to head in a perfect world is Pearl till he retires and then Dusty

I don’t think Pearl would demand it. Besides it’s not like a team wouldn’t give his son a chance. Minnesota gave Pitino’s kid one…

I’m pretty torn on Pearl. There is no doubt he’s a winner and we’d be great. But probably only for a few years until he’s 70 and ready to retire. We are dying for stability. I wish we could CGI De-age him a couple years like Harrison Ford.

But if we hire him maybe we could get an Alimony's to open on Kirkwood.

Expecting Dusty to be the guy in 4,5,6 years is pretty farfetched IMO.  By then they'll be many more shiny baubles to choose from.  Maybe Dusty's still one of them and maybe he's not.

Yeah that's in a perfect world. That is him going to a P5 job and having success.

From what I have heard we have a really good plan going forward. We just need to let Dolson work.

OH man Chris - just standing there holding a can of gas, daring us to toss you a match. hahaha
