And you haven't even considered the post game presser... that could be pretty embarrassing for him, as well... it's the perfect storm of "demented old grandpa" and "entitled P4 coach full of hubris".

I know Dolson talks frequently to Brad Stevens and although I doubt he ever wants to come back to Indiana as a coach, I'm sure his opinion during the coaching search would be valued. 

Beard checks all of the boxes. 

Helluva staff, Adam's would be great in the area recruiting. 

We can't really gamble on another mid-major, we need an Alpha male to coach at IU, the list is short. I'm in the minority but I'm not sold on Dusty as our coach.

I’m retired. You just don’t announce I’m retired, there’s paperwork involved. And once you sign, you just can’t say I’ve changed my mind and go on like you didn’t.

I understand that I'm thinking he won't sign it. He will say I will sign it at years end.

Couple thoughts about today

1) I'm surprised Goodman in the media was the "first" one to "break" this. Makes me think it could've been leaked by the university to speed this up. 

2) No reason IU can't have a new coach by the start of the NCAA Tournament. Some really good jobs could open up this year (UNC, maybe Texas?). Need to get our guy...if it's Stevens, McCollum, May, etc great. Just win!! I'm tired of Indiana Basketball being like everybody else.

Because he and Chris have been wrong before. I appreciate what they share with us because they don't have to do it, but every time we think IU is finally going to get something right, it almost always fails to happen.

I think it boils down to a couple things:

1. Lots of credible rumors that he really does have a special place in his heart for IU. How much weight do you give that? (You can include things in this one about proximity to family if you want too.)

2. IU made an offer last time. But how close did they actually get?

3. As explained elsewhere, Celtics are in flux AND he got a ring. They’re being sold, they’re about to get expensive and will probably have to make painful decisions about who to keep, etc. Between all that and the possibility that IU can pay more (and maybe he really wants to coach!), what matters most?

How you answer those impacts how you think about his chances to take it.

I wish he was gone now. Pick a responsible adult to lead these kids and let’s hope they can turn things around enough to sneak into the tournament still. Please…….

He has more experience on the college level than Mike Woodson. That’s an automatic upgrade.

 Like it or not our fan base reputation is that we are lunatics and I somewhat agree with that assessment.  I am sure nobody will agree with this but future candidates will watch how Woodson is treated if he coaches out the season. I think it will effect the quality of candidates that will be interested in the job if we don't stop ripping him. I know the can response that we don't want a coach if they can't handle it but guys like May or Stevens could be those guys who might say no thank you.

Yes.  Brad in 2021 and Harrelson come to mind.  But we're all wrong now and then.  I still believe.
