What benefit to the program would exist by firing him now? How would that improve the program in the near term, which is the only real impact it would have. Would we be more competitive? Win more games? Serve the interests of the players?

This team isn't going anywhere. It gets a crappy coach out and IU can begin a, hopefully competent this time, coaching search. Also keeps the crowd from getting more toxic.

I guess it just depends on how weighted fan sentiment is at this stage for the administration. That’s the biggest positive. Every weighs these things differently.

This!  He needs to go now!  His attitude and ego are a cancer to the university and basketball program and he could do much damage by the end of the year

I really don't care if they let the night janitor take over. Just need to show possible candiates that we are serious and the job is open now.

For starters, it would convey to the fanbase that somebody at Indiana gives a damn about the state of Indiana basketball. It would start the "healing" process within the fanbase.

Cathy doesn’t care about, or even respect, the fanbase. You see how she comes in here and talks down to everyone.
She thinks we’ll continue to eat the **** being fed to us and be happy about it.
This fanbase is top tier in terms of its knowledge about and love for basketball.
We have the most expensive roster in the conference and are getting blown out once a week.

We see the developmental and scheme failures game after game, year after year.

Relieving Woodson of his duties soon can begin to repair the program’s relationship with the one thing it still has going for it: us. Last night was incredibly toxic. It was warranted. End this soon—or at least make it public it’s ending at seasons end.

I agree, it would provide a visceral solution for some, but it wouldn’t impact the long term health of the program, which should be the objective.

I still think announcing a planned retirement at the end of the year is the cleanest way out of this.

If only every employer worked that way. Your terrible at your job and at the end of the quarter in two months you are out of here.
