I'm not sure who you're expecting on the list. Coach K? It's basic but I would take most of those guys.

Also I was contacted last season by one of Trilly's guys but have not been this season yet.

Ha ha ha. It's not about any expectations I have. I was just having a laugh that Trilly's list is the same names we've thrown around.

What if I told you there is a guy who:

  • Has fantastic Indiana in-state coaching and recruiting ties; a product of eight years as an Indiana in-state high school coach,
  • Was a very successful head coach at a nationally recognized basketball prep school,
  • Has been a college lead assistant for a modern offense for nine years, including for a team that went to both the elite eight and sweet sixteen,
  • Inherited a mid-major that had just gone 6-12 in a crap conference,
  • In his first year won that conference at 13-3 (27-9 overall) with two post-season wins, and was conference coach of the year,
  • This year is 11-2, and
  • Is only 45 years old.

Would that guy interest you?

fortunately, it's a different governor... hopefully that matters.

So long as he’s not a Purdue fan!  Governor we need to appoint an IU Board of Trustee member…”Hmm….think we can extend that Buckner guy to a lifetime appointment? I know terms are 3 years, but let’s at least try!”

Careful, this is getting into basketball erotica territory for IU fans... Or maybe just me. Either way, keep going...

Jokes aside, I would be very happy with this particular guy.

I'm bitter because IU basketball used to be can't miss. Helped make the winters here in Indiana tolerable. It has been a sh!t show for so long and Woodson being the latest to make it intolerable with his arrogance and clueless coaching wears on all of us! I follow but refuse to watch. Woodson needs fired and I hope Dolson/IU can finally get it right! I wouldn't accept free season tickets for mid court, front row if you paid me. No desire to go and be disappointed/pissed for my 1 1/2 drive home. I have school age kids who have no idea what IU basketball once was because it's been bad their whole lives. I miss getting together with family and friends to watch games. I'm 51 and feel like as the years pass the more I harken back to the glory years of RMK and feel cheated every season. Sad!!!!! FIRE WOODSON!!!!!!!!!!!

And how pissed is Woodson that Coach Cig is making almost double his base salary plus incentives? It's gotta sting just a little bit... and Cig got his boys over the hump right away.
If Woodson wanted to claim he turned things around he should have left after two years. Now it will end badly for him but he only has himself and his ego to blame

I still would love to see what Bruce Pearl could do here for 10ish years...I know he is 64, but you'd think he was 15 years younger than Woody in the way he carries himself and the energy he has.
Talk about a culture change and a jolt of energy into the program. He'd have us winning year 1 with the NIL resources we have.
I don't care that he is 64. Sampson is 69 and just landed three top 20 recruits for 2025.

I wouldn't be mad...

Curious about how true/serious the rumors about Pearl coming here last year really were... or if he was just punking us...

Brad or Dusty that should be the list.

1) Brad (I think it’s a total Hail Mary but Dolson may as well throw it)

2) Torn between Dusty and McCollum personally but they’d probably prioritize May. If he’s anything less than enthusiastically on board, lock in on McCollum and throw everything you have at him.

These are the three I think everyone would be most excited about and I’d rather not go past this list. I am sure there are a handful of relative unknowns who could do quite well here. Can’t wait for the day we are genuinely excited about IUBB again.

We need a proven winner to turn this around right now even if it's only for 5 years. Can't take a risk on a 40 year old up and comer.
