The “compromise” by Dolson to let this go down this way saved us some good cash on the buyout. Lot of litigation today. Make no mistake about it, this was not Woody’s decision to retire.

As a trustee (and the board chair, no less) his responsibility has to be to do what is in the best interest of the university.Buckner has abdicated that responsibility in favor of hiring a friend (and keeping said friend employed).

Ironically, the Indiana basketball program that was great in the '70s and '80s is now being destroyed by the very ones who made it great. They are actively destroying both the program and its legacy.

And looks like they might be working on destroying their own individual legacies as well from these latest developments.

Ok, I am 50+ years old and have followed IU for as far back as I can remember.  I am an extremely traditional person.  I love the tradition of Martha, the under 8 time-out, former player glory, coach RMK, etc.  Always keep these thing vibrant and memorable.

As far as basketball goes, these traditions can no longer have affect on how basketball is played out moving forward.  We have to look at IU alumni for coaches because they are the only ones that understand how this works?  Blah!  A good coach (doesn't have to be connected to IU) can come in here with a modern approach to the game, embrace the tradition that have been established, and be completely successful.

To hear this from Buckner, BOT, alumni that we need to bring former players in here to restore glory to IU is hogs***.

Adjust with the times, get the players we need to compete at a consistent level, and quit looking back at history for answers.

MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION FOR GOD SAKES!

From the little bit I've gathered about Dolson, he seems well experienced at the shaking hands and kissing babies/fundraising side of things. If it's a dog fight between Scott and Quinn, I have no choice but to hope like hell that Scott can bite back. Quinn's got a lot of bark but being out after next year how much bite can he be packing? Dolson will need to finesse this masterfully

Jesus, I need a bourbon after that! I was late to the party of dumping Woodson, but eventually I saw the light. When you look at the collective over the past few weeks, how could any one so adamantly call for Woody's return. There won't even be a roster left for next year, unless the walkons stay; the fanbase is on the verge of collapse; there is no way the NIL coffers stay full; attendance will take a huge hit next season; there is no way that retaining Woody won't set this program back at least a decade. I have been ready to move on for a few weeks now, but Woody's comments last night were the final nails in the coffin. There is no change, no adaptation, no humility, no common sense left in that man. Sorry to the Old Guard, but Buckner and Woody need to go, now, not eventually, Holy Cow what a train wreck!

I used to feel this way as well, but then Cignetti happened. That was an absolute power move. We didn't just swap coaches. We told ol'LEO to take a hike and brought in a proven winner. Scott was a part of that. Let's all hope and pray we see the same thing on our beloved IUBB front.

And even sadder is Woodson won't make the tournament!!!! IU will be Michigan next year, Georgetown with Ewing!!! 1 recruit coming in, 2 leaving for the NBA and talk of others leaving because they don't like his style. There are not enough portal additions to improve that drastically in one year!!! Competent coaches like Self or Pearl could make it work, but not Woodson!!!! This is total BS and him getting another year is delaying the inevitable!!!!! My fandom is about over and gone if he returns next year!!!!

If I’m Pearl I would be running not walking away from our dysfunctional administration. How can they tell Dolson to get a great hire lined up then Buckner take a huge poo on it?  It is absolutely asinine and if I was Dolson I would resign and blast Buckner which I know won’t happen. I have pretty much watched every game since the early 80s and I’m still going to watch but with no hope if Woodson around for year four. Does Buckner honestly think that there will be a competitive team on the floor next year with Woody at the helm?  F Buckner he is a JackDonkey!

Board of Trustees are Whitten's Boss, assuming it works like other boards. Like a CEO of a company answers to a board or a Superintendent answers /hired by a School Board.

From what i have gathered across 3 places, it would go Dolson gets his plan, goes to President Whitten, then if she accepts, it would go to the Board. Where they will deny anything involving Woody leaving because of Buckner and his friends and no one will cross Buckner.
