I don’t prefer having Beard here, yet easy to see why people do. The guy is a great coach. Whether IU would or wouldn’t, I won’t speculate for now. What I will say is, in addition to the terrible basketball we are forced to watch this season, I hold a grudge against the admin for forcing us to have an entire calendar year of debate on the subject of Chris Beard, his case, and whether we would hire him or not lol. They could’ve just made the change last offseason, when everyone and their mother could see it was needed - even Helen Keller. You don’t need to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. Whoever the heck they hire, he better be a real winner. They owe us that.

He deserves what he gets Sunday, it is of his own making and he is the only one that can decide on his retirement and "do the right thing."

And the attitude that he is owed something because he was a great player here 40+ years ago and his "kingly" entitlement is exactly what got us here in the first place.

I can't disagree with you, but it just eats me up that the administration is letting this slide downhill without any action to stop it or ease tension. "Mike Woodson will be retiring at the end of this basketball season" Press release. After that I'm ok with the results of the year and looking forward to the next coach. Hell I'd even root for the old fart to win the B1G tourney at that point. Just retire old man!

Beard will fail here just like Sampson did. Just like Beard did at Texas.

There’s a reason no legit programs looked to hire either last year. Small-time miscreants that don’t have what it takes to win at a major program.

I.mean I feel like the people who have beard locked up in prison and guilty as sin also had the Duke lacrosse guys guilty as sin on day one. The holier than they attitude of some is unreal. And rush to judgment no matter what.

I don't view it as judgement, I view it as unnecessary risk.

Didn't IU's starting PG last year go 90MPH down a busy inner-city street?

Yes.  But we didn't recruit a veteran back-up point guard, so we just told Xavier not to do it again.

Woody thinks they’re winning Saturday and then winning out to get in the tournament. Buckner probably feeds into that delusion.

I think Beard is in play, but he is not ahead of Stevens or May. I think there are a couple of other people ahead of him, also. I think tomorrow will be interesting for many different reasons. I have no inside information about tomorrow just seems like a lot is going on. Hopefully for everyone involved this nightmare is over soon.

Didn't you say he had no chance? Have you heard something that changed your mind?

The Duke lacrosse players vigorously fought and denied the chargers. Beard walked away from $25 million guaranteed without so much as a whimper. Even you have to see the difference.

Did she punch him first? Not convinced, at all, he's innocent....

Some of you are acting like you were there though

I find the old "these people are the same people" argument to be funny, as it is almost always pure speculation.

I don't think there is much debate on whether he put hands on his girlfriend. It's not a rush to judgment, it happened, according to her own words and physical evidence. The fact that his girlfriend subsequently dropped the charges doesn't change that.

I'm not saying we can't hire him, but let's not stick our head in the sand while we do it.

Beard went to a title game....that's not small-time.

By that token, Brad Stevens is small-time because Butler isn't a major program.....except he made it one.

I don't know man, being staunchly against domestic violence doesn't really feel like being self-righteous. Maybe he didn't do it, the police report and opinions of the officers are pretty damning, but someone else can take the chance on Beard. I'd rather find someone else, even if they don't win as many basketball games.

I get it and believe me I'm with you on that part .Im also against stuffing security guards in waste cans.

Just venting but Damm I want to win.

Stevens May then Beard with a clause in his contract.

I did say that. I think he has a chance, he's down the list but saying no chance is dumb on my part. He would have to be vetted and OK'd by Whitten but there is a way to get there. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that but I'm not saying there is no chance.

yeah yeah... I'm good with that. There are levels to all this, though, right?

Who cares? You don't inflict that level of injury on a woman under any circumstances.

And again, if he had any claim to innocence, why didn't he contest a firing that cost him $25 million?

I have no issue with Beard. Hell of a coach.  He’s an easy #3 with me.

Absolutely, and I don't know enough about it to get into the intricacies of those levels. I just don't think there is a magic pill we can take and pretend like nothing happened.
