I could care less about fife or where he coaches. I don't want him at iu or any former players at this point. But seeing what I've seen from Woodson I would not believe most anything he says. To me it seems he would throw anyone under the bus to protect his precious ego.

You wouldn't want any of the "newer" players, say old man Zeller or Yogi, if they decided to get into coaching?

I didn't read the Rabby hit piece, but I caught some of the fallout. I did read the Mike Decourcy fluff piece, and understand the intention behind it.

Bottom line is Fife wants to coach. He didn't stop on his own accord. He has plenty of contacts in college basketball that know him well. If his personality wasn't an issue and if his basketball acumen was really valued (enough that other coaches could look past his personality) he'd be coaching.

Some of the attributes that made him such a dogged, hardnosed defensive player in college don't translate to not being an arrogant person that's easy to get along with in his post-playing career.

No not after Woodson. Maybe in development but not as assistants. We tried the former player and it was a fiasco

I am getting excited to have many cocktails and watch the king prowl the sidelines tomorrow. That black out doesn't know what's about to hit them.

....thought that as well. I will go along and add that he most likely had the same feelings about Matta. Just my guess.

He doesn't want to be around people that he thinks is smarter/better coach than him. lol

Based upon what I have seen, almost anyone is a smarter/better coach than Moron Mike!

Whoever the new coach is has to be better at PR and Indiana has to make their coaches more accessible to the local media in Indy. So far this college basketball season I have heard interviews with a lot of different coaches but none from IU. Off the top of my head these are the coaches I have heard.

Painter PU

Lewis BSU

Matta Butler

Underwood UI

Ben Johnson Minnesota

May UM

Izzo MSU

The stuff was exaggerated. Both had issues but it was a bad fit from the start. Woodson didn't even know Fife was a former player.

If true, that just shows how much Woodson "loves" IU basketball. He didn't even keep up with what was happening in the program.

That being said (and you know I agree with you), do you think Dusty would consider Fife for his staff if he came here since the two are good friends?

It's true. I'd heard it before and then DD and Fife talked about it on his show yesterday lol

That's accurate. Build a culture and get dudes that fit that culture. That will solve a lot of problems.

That is actually the biggest problem with Woodson’s system, or lack there of!  You can’t have your system hiring/recruiting, or whatever you want to call what does, the best/highest rated players available.  Players have to fit their role and whatever system and identity you run/play with
