In what way is it a better job?

More recently National championship successful program

Currently more successful program

Great recruiting base

Better weather

No state taxes

2 - 3 hrs to three major cities

And both campuses are a-bustin-at-da-seams with young coeds dying to meet or receive naughty-bits pictures from a handsome basketball coach!

Do we think NBA players respect coaches?  Ballo came with 1 year eligability and a seven figure pay out.  These coaches have no control over that.  At the very least, Ballo will play overseas for big money.  What does he care.

p.s. this isn't a slam on you JS just a rant about the NIL and portal world that we live inKids do not care when it's money.

I would say that may depend on the environment. I doubt there's any portal players saying that to Self or Hurley or Pearl. Does anyone here think a portal player could say that to Cignetti without consequences?

Woodson let's the inmates run the asylum so it's not surprising if that happens to him.

I'm calling it now.

Following getting blown out at Purdue and Wisconsin, and heading into a home showdown with Michigan, his "retirement" is announced on either Thursday February 6, or Friday February 7.

This way the news gets buried amidst the lead story of the upcoming Super Bowl, plus he is spared being humiliated by cascades of boos at Assembly Hall and the "We want Dusty" chants.

I've heard this a couple of times today. So something like that if Stevens said no today, and Michigan found out they could offer Dusty a huge contract right now before the season is over. So then you have already struck out on your two big choices.

So if we get rid of Woody before the end of the season then things look good for Stevens but if we wait till the end then it's probably already a college coach? Is this what your saying?

I thought about this earlier… What if Kenya becomes the interim HC leads us to a NCAA tourney bid and wins a game. I’m guessing he could get some NcAA HC interest from smaller programs and might accept. I know we probably don’t want him as Indiana’s HC but what if he has a solid run to make the tourney, wins a game and wants to return as an assistant for the next HC say it be a Stevens who might not have a college staff built. Would Dolson allow Kenya’s return or does Scott not want anyone back from the Woodson era?

You’d have to be insane to want any of these clowns back.  Maybe Hulls.

I want Dusty, and I wanted him last offseason. But I hope people don't chant that, I think Dusty might take it as disrespectful and a turn-off.

I do hope May gets a big ovation when he comes out though.

I could get behind Chris Beard.  I know he’s had issues, but it sounds like they are behind him.  He’s a better and more proven than many others who have been listed on here.

Beard is probably the one coach who would take the IU job that I wouldn't have much concern with him being able to win. He has the chops, the demeanor, and the personality to succeed here. Not many do.

That being said, I don't think the admin would even give him an interview.

No whoever the new coach is they will have total control on picking their assistants. Now Calbert or Jordy may get a job as a player development or basketball operations or something like that.

Beard was fired for-cause and Texas didn't have to pay his buyout. He didn't even fight it.

Not my point. He said Golden situation was black and white. He did it or he didn't. Since UF claimed he didn't do it he's OK but Beard isn't even though the victim later claimed he didn't do it? I'm not advocating for Beard but saying there's a double standard taking place.

Unless Ole Miss and Texas come out and say "we did our investigation, there was no wrong doing"... it's hard to compare the two.

I don't think being convicted of a crime is the barometer one must clear in order to be hired as Indiana's basketball coach. Todd Golden was investigated and cleared by Florida's Title IX department. Chris Beard wasn't cleared because charges weren't filed. Two different scenarios.

I don’t want anyone back I was just doing a what if. I don’t really know if I want Calbert or Clif back either.

Were either found to be guilty of any wrong doing? So both just technically suspected of wrong doing, correct?

I just wanted to make sure that we can just burn it all to the ground and make sure no one from the Archie/Woodson era is back. It’s time to move forward with new voices
