Mgbako Arrested, Paying Small Fine for Misdemeanor

Recommended Posts

Twitter research indicates possibly a dispute with them not wanting to serve food although they were supposed to be open until 3am. Doesn’t excuse the rest of what happened but this might have been the fire starter.

Taco Bell has been a fire starter for me quite a bit.   People in my car can attest.

I have to apologize. I believe I’ve accused you of only showing up here for in-season L’s. But here you are proving me wrong by showing up for off season L’s as well. Again, my apologies :-).

I’m mostly in the football section and basketball recruiting section if you look at my previous posts. It’s not exactly basketball season so no reason to post in this sub section when nothing is going on.

Uh that would be a mental health issue

An isolated (as of now) strong reaction is not a mental health issue.

It is however being a human being who knows better and needs to learn the value of cooler heads while continuing to grow up.

If it becomes a pattern?

Ok, caught up on replies. Feel like I am in the twilight zone with some of these replies. Mine might be just as direct the other way but feel it is warranted to offset some of this.

How many of you have done worse and not had the police called? someone even suggested it would be better if drinking was involved. WTH.

let me play this out. Yes, I am reading into it and speculating but some of you are all the way to mental health, so…

He was at a drive through to a store that should have been open. They say “sorry, we closed” - he says WTF, you got to be kidding me. It says you are open. Quit playing around and take my order. Etc. I would be little pissed too. As 18 year old me, yeah, I am saying some heated words.

So he pulls around and parks. Maybe to figure out where else to get food. Or calls a friend/teammate - “hey, they say they are closed.” “No they are not, go back up to the drive through and ask them why it says closed at 3:30am on the door”

at this point, they see the “big scary guy” parked in the car. They call the cops. The freaking cops over them closing early and him being parked there.

cops show up, “you got to go. They want you to leave.” “They are not supposed to be closed. Now I am parked here and they call the cops on me?” - get out do the car. Etc -that right there would be a non-:starter for 90% of people. I am not drunk, not hurting anyone, parked in my car and you want to escalate this to more than likely arrest me? At that point, probably trying to call someone for help. Not getting out of the car and risk what may happen. For those that say what would happen, open your world view. For some of you, maybe you would get out, but see, you don’t have the constant worry of things going bad. That is not a shot at cops. That is reality.  Plenty cops would tell you the same.

lastly, some of you are quoting the police report. I don’t think that makes them look too great even with what was written myself. Smashing his window out? Really? Whatever happened to protect and serve and de-escalate. But even if we take it as written, how many stories we have of police reports being little bias. Little different events when police cam comes out? We have thousands of those. But… he has mental health issues, Woody has program issues etc.

did I speculate, yep. So is everyone. When something seems odd and out of character, why assume the worst? Bet there would be some different responses here with exact same events if it is was Cupps.

Your assessment is based on made up scenarios and refuses to believe what was in the report.

he was refused service because of his verbal abuse. He was asked to leave the drive through lane and refused so they called the cops and he was still sitting there in the drive though lane when they got there.

the above and a ton of other things are ignored or changed in your made up reenactment

Should’ve just played this card up front so we knew not to bother reading the rest.

Yes, I’m sure people would’ve been cool with it if Cupps had been the one who lost it in a Taco Bell drive thru at 2 in the morning. Let’s do a run down.

- He curses out Taco Bell employees in the drive thru
- is refused service and told to leave
- He won't leave so police are called
- Police show up and tell him to leave
- He starts to leave but changes his mind
- Police give him around 15 minutes to leave but he still refuses
- Police order him out of the car, he refuses
- Police break the window, open the door, and order him out of the car
- He refuses and is combative as the Police remove him from the car

Stop making excuses for him. His behavior was wrong, period. Dude had every opportunity to fix the situation but made wrong decision after wrong decision.

Right.  But what caused the cursing out of the employees?  It’s not likely he pulled up and said “get me a fkg taco *****.”   Something happened which lit the fuse.  That may or may not be relevant to his reaction.

Pretty good summary. We don't know what set him off initially, but the resisting is the worst part.  He was asked to leave multiple times and didn't, he was asked to exit the vehicle and didn't so they had physically remove him.

There are certainly far worse things that could've happened, but his own decisions made the situation worse for himself.  If he would've just left when asked there would've never been a problem.

What is not in dispute was that he was arrested for criminal trespass and resisting arrest.  Not seeing how either of those are false charges.  Whether the police could have deescalated the situation and didn't is irrelevant in terms of the law.

Anyway, in the end I don't see this as ultimately being a big issue in isolation.  No reason to believe right now that this isn't more than a one off.  Heck, the Xavier Johnson traffic issue was way worse in my opinion because that is something that could have really gotten someone killed.

I have a feeling point 1 and 2 should be flipped.

It has been a terrible sports weekend for me.

A Purdue loss would have helped a little, but no,.....they had to have a bye week. lol

I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Nebraska this Saturday.

Taco Bell locations

C

Here are the 3 in Bloomington. Which one did he go to? lol  My guess is he got to Taco Bell B or C a few minutes too late and they told him they were closed..... This would have all been avoided if he would have gone to the one on N. Walnut. They close at 5 a.m.  LOL!!!!

I've often thought of calling the compliance line on our local Bell many times.  The rules of ethics don't exist when the labor pool is this low.  But man, I gots to have many bacon a.m. crunchwrap and Baja Blast Dew.

This Taco Bell is easily the worst in the state. Sometimes they close in the middle of the day so workers can all go smoke together. One day they told me they were out of meat and cheese but could give me a hard shell tortilla with lettuce in it. The workers don't care because the building is going to be torn down soon for a car wash to be built.

I think some things to clear up are MM left the drive-thru when the police asked him to. He parked where the police asked him to while they talked to the Taco Bell workers. He then left but came back parking in a different area up by Jiffy Treat. That is when the cops went to arrest him. He asked the cops if he would wait in his car until his parent or another adult got there. They said no and broke his window out.

I think we will see all charges dropped, he will maybe sit half if that of one of the exhibition games. Monroe County Sheriffs are not known to be very good at their jobs in this town. I've had first-hand experience with that. Now let's get back to negotiating Tom Allen's buyout.

I say, Coach Woodson makes him work off hours in the drive-thru at said Taco Bell!.... lol

(I know it's Good Burger, but seems fitting.....)
