Starting centers in the league include Bam Adebayo is 6'9", 255. Inside player only, averages 20+ Jarrett Allen is 6'9", 243. Inside player only. 14 and 10 player. Robert Williams III, 6'9" 237 8/8 in 20 mpg. Clint Capela, 6'10" 240. 12/11 player. Kevin Looney, 6'9" 222. 7/9 player in 24 mpg Trayce measured 6'8.25" and 240 at the combine....but the heights listed above are with shoes. Looney was 6'8" at the combine and Adebayo was a touch under 6'9". While I agree that the NBA views Trayce as a 5 in the body of a 4, IMO there are tons of players like that in the NBA. And while the NBA is obviously the best league in terms of talent by far, they are also a league of copycats who want to imitate what they've seen succeed, we are also coming off a Nuggets title for a team that probably has the least athletic 4/5 combo in the NBA in Jokic and Gordon. And IMO it's more about the two of them having really good basketball IQ as opposed to their ability to shoot from the perimeter. Between them, they averaged taking 26 shots per game and under 5 were from distance. A little pushback. Jokic’s skillset is second to none, best player in the League, Finals MVP, 2-time MVP light years different than TJD and Gordon not athletic? Besides being a former top 5 draft pick, he has had crazy athleticism (his slam dunk comp several yrs ago against Levine was crazy, but he took on a completely different role as a role player when traded from Orlando to Denver — still showed off his shooting and complete floor game in one big Finals game this year. Agree their bball IQ, especially Jokic, is key but that’s also a reflection of why it’s not just height comparisons. Most of these guys have very different games, Bam and Allen — different players. (Capella’s not a bad comp imo). TJD not showing any shooting game coming into the draft held him back, along with being a senior. All that said, TJD to me has the game to flourish on a team like GS, he fell too far in the draft, def a steal and do think he’ll make teams pay. On GS he’ll have the opp to rim protect/block, push the ball and run in transition and get inside buckets with major outside spacing. System, fit and development is so important in the League for whether a player sticks. TJD has a real shot at having a long career there, imo moyemayhem, lillurk, thebigweave and 2 others 5 Quote

That is not typical for a second round pick, and limited the teams interested which is probably why he fell to late in the second round. Many teams probably thought he might go undrafted and they could just bid on him like a regular free agent. it was a calculated gamble, but ensured TJD went to a team that was committed to him and it got him a bigger contract. It obviously paid off, as he is in a great situation now. For comparison, the Pacers picked Isaiah Wong two spots before TJD, and he signed a non-guaranteed 2-way contract.
