They Fired Tom Allen!

I hate the "he wouldn't go anywhere" argument.  I'd rather try to keep or replace a coach that showed you can have success instead of being in the position we're in where he won't go anywhere because no one else wants him.

No one wanted him before we gave him the money, no one wants him now.

Is there any possible way he gets fired this year? Feels like one of those situations where we are going to have a dead man walking as our coach going into next season due to the money. Everyone knows he's done here just seems like a matter of when he gets fired and how cheap we can do it for unfortunately.

If he really loved the university he’d resign. That would be the ultimate LEO move, wouldn’t it?

At this rate he is setting the program back so far (he's not alone the admin sucks when it comes to football) that whoever the next guy is will need years to get it to even a point of being healthy

LEO is just a front. His true self is revealed by the way he consistently throws his staff and players under the bus to excuse his own incompetence.  And it’s obvious that the players are entirely over it at this point.

Recently talked to a parent of a second year player. He said the program is a joke compared to others in the conference. Practice and preparation is bad. Players know the coaching sucks, some joke about and very few are 100% bought in.

Unless Allen is very different behind closed doors than he is on in the public eye, I think it’d be very hard to take Allen seriously as a head coach.

Team has 100% quit on the coaches.  Sad to see.  I wanted the Tom Allen experience to work, but there is no coming back from the roster quitting on you.

$20M is a lot of money, but how does Tom Allen go into a family’s living room and convince their son to play for him knowing he’ll be gone within months?

I doubt it would ever happen…but the decent thing for Allen to do, would be resign.

No, it won't happen, but maybe schools need to start putting in some very reasonable minimum metrics in order for these coaches to receive  those buyouts! Maybe we need to hold a telethon to raise money, Mellencamp could provide some nice auction items!
