I guess Ball St didnt want him….in all seriousness, if a kid expects to start as a freshman/sophomore after putting in zero work and showing mediocre ability, Purdue is a perfect fit for you

Curious, and I have no idea, but….Did James really have a reputation for “putting in zero work”? Not disputing you but I had not heard that before. If true that would explain a lot as to why he did not pan out.

I've been to several practices and I never saw him not practicing as hard as anyone else. But I have been told by coaches he had a sense of entitlement. I don't think he liked to work as hard as others in the offseason. Just always expected he was going to be the guy. I think going to Purdue is a real D-bag thing to do.

Same with what Chris said…he didn’t not try in practice from what I heard but also didn’t go the extra mile which is absolutely required of any kid who wants to start for a team as good IU as an underclassmen. My comment was more centered around the fact that he hasn’t paid his dues yet to have this kind of mindset. Some 5 star kids have to wait 3-4 years to play at major programs.

I'm disappointed in him, but if he wants to play for a program that is so bad their coach will be fired soon, then he made the right decision for him.  Maybe he likes playing in 3 different systems in 4 years.

I never want to criticize kids, but everything has to be earned at every level. Entitlement, and I have no information about that, will never make you popular with your teammates. The best kids need to be the hardest workers. That's how a program is built.

It's a shame as I thought he had un-tapped potential. I was hoping to see with another year of maturity how he would progress this year. (wishful thinking but holding hope) I know he had previously considered leaving IU but came back on board. I think those folks indicating he was moving down the depth chart, or at a minimum likely to see less and less action, are likely correct. Normally I'd wish him well, but going to Purdue.... Additionally, if the above rumors about leaving with our info are accurate, then my feelings are even more unfavorable. If you're unhappy leave but don't try to screw your old team mates (if true). Yeah, bad decisions young man.

Going to PU sucks but he did have an offer from them and he remains close to home. Dont view this as a big loss for IU or a big gain for PU. Minimal impact.

It sounds like IU is changing there playcalls, language, and signs now so the players have a lot to learn before they play Iowa.
