Rob Phinisee.

I harped on Rob a lot this past season. His biggest problem was confidence. The entire team has that problem thanks to the staff. But I think Woodson and especially Fife will push him hard. I think he's in the conversation for first team all defense in the B1G. I'm don't think his numbers will go up. But I do think his presence on the floor is going to be that positive. Whether he's playing with Stewart or Lander in the back court.

Will his defense be worth his lack of offense? He’s played three seasons and is a career 36% from the field, 29.8% from 3, and 67.5% from the line. That’s going to be tough to improve on, imo. We can’t afford to play guards who aren’t threats to score. I know many people disagree but if he’s getting a lot of minutes next year I’m going to be disappointed. We’ve got Lander/Bates/Johnson/Stewart who I have getting minutes ahead of him

I think a lot of his offensive struggles had to do with Archie. Because there were times where he seemed to play outside of the system and attacked and played fast and shot without thinking. He looked his best.

I don’t think we can put it all on Archie. There were a lot of times where Archie was screaming at him to bring it up faster but he still snail walked it up the floor. It’s not impossible for him to make a big jump of course, but he was ranked #135 in his class and through 86 college games he’s played like it more or less. Our guard play was terrible last year and he was a big reason why. I just really don’t want to see him playing 25+ minutes a game like last year after the backcourt improvements we’ve made. He’s not more than a ~10 mpg guy on a conference title contender, imho. He’s undersized at anything other than point guard, and he doesn’t have the shooting or great athleticism to do well as an undersized 2 guard.

I think he could get 20/game as a third guard on a good team, and I think he was best next to ball-dominant 2s: Romeo and Devonte. I’m not sure he’ll get much more or less than that but IU has lots of guard depth even if ~half or more of the minutes at the 3 go to Stewart or Bates.

I think he’ll have a good year but more of a “what he was capable of all along” type of thing than improvement.

Geronimo-

I believe he has the most upside on the roster! Although, I think we'll see significant improvement from the whole team.

Statistically we will likely see the Freshmen take a leap just because that’s typically how it works.

So I would say Geronimo or lander

I'm going to go with leal. He fits the system of what we see in the NBA. Stand in the corner and shoot threes. Could see a Bruce Bowen corner specialist out of leal

I think it will be Lander or Phin.

I just don’t see what everyone else does with Geronimo. I think he’ll be good but I’ve seen some people list him as a potential starter and I just don’t see it.

He's an explosive athlete and strong. He's not a tall guy but he's listed at 6-1. He could definitely give you spot minutes at the 2 if need be, though that'll be taken up mostly by Stewart, Bates and Lander I'd assume. I think Woodson and Fife will love his defense. He's not going to have a large scoring load on himself with who else will be on the roster. I think his play gets a lot better. If not, he will be ok the bench and I think he knows that.

Galloway. Can be a tenacious defender, and showed some flashes of being able to effectively slash to the rim. With more space in Woodson's offense, I think Galloway will be a much more productive offensive player. I also suspect his 3 point touch will improve as well.

Phinisee would be my second choice. Dude was lights out his first semester, then the concussion, then the lack of confidence. If Woodson can get his head straight he's an all-B1G caliber player still, I really believe.

I think Trey could improve the most on offense, as I think the coaches will "fix" his shot.

Hunter could be the most improved on defense if he works on it, and is coachable.

Really hard question this year, especially because it comes with a complete change in offensive philosophy to go with a complete change in coaching and new veteran players.

I can see reasons for several players to show real improvement in production.

Hunter for his shooting and a full season removed from his lost year — confidence and spacing for the arc.

Lander as he’ll now have a college body to go with the experience he gained, and in that offense, and not a pac line D, he can shine, his P&R potential with TJD is huge.

Geronimo— this kid has so much potential, he already has the athleticism and D, his floor awareness is now ready and yes he can shoot, I expect him to bloom under Woodson whether or not it happens early on.

Leal for his shooting, this kid can really shoot in a system that utilizes spacing, he has more work than say Lander to round out his game but the opportunity is there

I was back and forth between the two.
