If a school insists on a low #2 the coach will do the same and argue for a low #1 and vice versa. So i see them as all part of the negotiations. You can argue anything, but negotiation is about leverage. Dusty has two high profile schools with open offers to him so he held most of the leverage.

If that is the case, again, lets just rehire Crean.... Indiana isn’t in the market of hiring a great coach. Great coaches rarely move. Yes, I understood and understand your point. It is a good point too. I just don't really focus on the $$$ side of this issue. I have much more interest in the wins and coaching aspects. What about the players, too?

Thats my belief. Coupled with he and Dolson talking/negotiating last offseason. The way I read it, I think Kelsey’s buyout would be 8-9mm this year. Assuming Louisville offered something similar to May and knowing IU could be looking for a new coach this offseason, my gut tells me May took the job that would be less of a hurdle to get to IU.

Cronin would bring IU back to winning and competing for conference titles however most this fanbase would hate the hire. After watching 8 years of whatever the IU program has put out I’m surprised he gets as much pushback as he gets. Wouldn’t be my first choice however I would have no problem with him leading the program. Makes the tourney every year and that is something this fanbase hasn’t experienced in a long time. Has had a winning conference record 11 out of the past 12 years and the one that wasn’t a winning conference record was 10-10. I pointed out couple days ago IU has had 1 winning conference record in the last 9 years. 4 years ago he wanted no part of the IU job and called it a train wreck (saw the texts) however things change and with the NIL at IU I could see it happening this time around. I did look up Kelsey's at L'ville and it seems to be around $8.7 million after 1 year so in comparison his is indeed lower. Still would love to know it was fully driven by May for another look at IU str8baller 1

This is what @Chris007 has been suggesting. If it’s Brad, no harm in having the job open now. If it wasn’t Brad, Dolson very well would’ve waited until the end of the season. Opening the job know means schools are trying to lock down their coach. Chris007, thebigweave and bird4par 3
