This isn't meant for you specifically and I'm not trying to give you crap. That said I keep reading that he won't be fired this year unless we lose out. So the $ isn't an issue if the bottom completely falls out but it is an issue if we just simply far, far underperform expectations? I don't get that. Either it's a problem or it isn't

Two things for me:

1) Until I see the current administration can someone earlier than expected I’ll be surprised to see it happen.

2) I don’t see any candidates that I think justify spending the money to fire Archie that we can hire and have coach the team going into next year.

No it wouldn’t. I think you’re letting your distaste for the guy distort reality. We both know that this season is anomalous, in regards to John Calipari. As much as I can’t stand the guy, he’s an all timer. If Indiana were to somehow be lucky enough to land him, we would be nationally relevant within a single season and everyone on this site would be kissing the ground that he walks on (myself included).

Firing Archie isn’t going to happen anytime soon and I’m not sure it would help anyways. Our issues are systemic and much more complex than the head coach. I can only speculate as to what these issues are but I am certain that it’s more than what meets the eye.
 

I’m not sure many understand the level of effort required, to systematically run a historically elite program into the ground, over multiple decades. It’s not bad luck. It’s not that this couldn’t be fixed. 
 

I sometimes wonder if the administration is actively monitoring the pulse of its customer base. During the last couple of years of the Tom Crean era, there was significant pressure building but not to the point where it was going to mortally affect the program’s revenue & profitability. They are in serious danger of doing so now. The apathy is off the charts. I’m comfortable saying that I’ve never seen it quite like this in my lifetime. Personally I’ve never been so disinterested in Indiana Basketball since I’ve been aware of the existence of basketball and Indiana Hoosier basketball. I get the sense that most of our fan base shares this feeling. 
 

If basketball revenues and profits are something that the university relies upon, then the university is in big trouble in the near future. From a business perspective, this is a company that needs to be gutted from top to bottom and and a complete rebranding strategy needs developed and executed immediately. Our current brand is incapable of making us competitive in the current marketplace. We simply cannot attract the talent (players or coaches) required to win at the level we expect. Hanging on to the past and expecting past results is insanity and an awful strategy.

If we were to (deservedly) fire Miller, does anyone think this administration would swing for the fences?  The way they've handled this program, I seriously doubt it.

I think Dolson, although new, will feel the pressure for sure and will ask for all hands on deck when hiring the next head coach. Was Quinn Bucker on the board when we hired Archie? 

We all know IU basketball is the face of Indiana University. It's not the football program, med school program, maybe sometimes it's the Kelley program. But it's basketball here in Indiana. With Indiana University "losing" money from COVID last year and this up-coming year, I'd like to think they'll look at ALL avenues in generating interest and funds for Indiana University. The basketball program is a great avenue to get interest in the university again. Let's hope they are wise enough to make sure whoever the next hire, is a grand-slam.

They haven't felt the pressure to get it right yet, I have doubts they're going too now; as long as we've been down Glass should have.  Buckner is just one voice

I couldn’t care less about his postgame comments if he delivers the results he’s delivered at UK. After making just four tournaments since 2008, it would be a welcome change.

Money talks and Indiana University and the athletic department will be looking at all avenues to generate money lost during the COVID years. We need a big name, we need a product, we need fans in seats. The right hire could do all of those.
