False. Very few cases does a school have someone lined up. They could be in talks but nothing will be finalized. Especially if their targets are still coaching in conference tournaments or the NCAA tournament. If they are hiring someone in the NBA or not coaching that makes things easier in the sense that those guys would be more likely to openly negotiate.

Hahaha....FALSE. Beats. Bears. Battlestar Galactica.

Not sure if it's been discussed, but how would you all feel about CAM getting fired, and one of the assistants being named interim (either for next season, or just until we get our guy)?  Not advocating for or against, just trying to add a variable to the discussion.
I wanted this 3 weeks ago. Said let Roberts carry the interim tag for rest of this season. As for next year? Idk I guess I'd be more for that than to see Archie's product on the court again.

It is false. the reason so many schools choose to hire search firms. It's not so that they can search for the coach. It's so they can negotiate legally. If IU hasn't hired a search firm which they likely won't until Archie has been dismissed or it's announced they are parting ways.

My point is, they're likely already doing that. I say likely because I have no direct tie to the program other than season tickets. You don't vacate the head of any size program with no plan; I respectfully disagree that they'd fire then find a search committee. If CAM is done on our next loss and that decision has been made, all these things are already in motion and there's no way they're going to let the word get out on that. Including search committees, validating interest, etc. It's not a blind process.

Crazy how much you miss if you don't check this in the morning...just to recap @Chris007

Last night (or the final game) will be it for Archie and Dolson is comfortable that there is interest in this job?.

As @Uspshoosier said earlier I'm just guessing it's 50/50. Time will tell.

If we're firing Archie for a mid-major guy no one on the board has even mentioned, then just keep Archie for another year.

Save money and pray Brad Stevens decides he's ready to come home or whoever.

Hiring a no-name is going to lose the fan-base even more. Indiana fans are greedy, it won't be pretty.

Oh I know they aren't going in blind. They've probably got an idea of candidates that they know are interested. I'm just saying that they probably haven't gotten anything lined up yet with a single candidate. Unless it's the guy in Boston. He's the exception to everything.

I think that's where the scenario where @mamasa comes in. You fire Archie, you name an interim coach till the NBA season is over, and then hire Brad.

Strongly disagree.  Keeping Archie will lose the fanbase much more than replacing him with anybody.  This fanbase is done with Archie

Could we just hold on to Archie until Brad gives us the signal?

Having an interim for a long period of time would be concerning to the fan base potentially.

This time tomorrow Archie could walk away on his own for all we know. Maybe we should keep an eye out for the news tomorrow around 4PM!

I’d think that would be a recruiting killer but just my opinion

Yeah you can do “interim” if you have good reason to: NBA coach handshake agreement, fired the last guy on short notice, had to change late in the hiring season, etc. I don’t see why you go out of your way to do it.

Even if you have a big fish on the line and you’re waiting for their season to end, you can just keep your current coach.
