Hornsby Posted March 4, 2025 Posted March 4, 2025 Being heavily involved with religion definitely doesn't equal being morally good. I think thats one distinction some of us are kind of saying. Another is that pushing a specific flavor of religion onto others via peer pressure or team culture is not in line with the university's mission. If Drew is personally very religious, that's his choice and I support his freedom of choice. If he requires or influences the team unduly in anyway to follow his religious beliefs, then that's a problem. I have no idea if that's the case, just the arguments I'm seeing. The guy can coach though for sure. What proof does anyone have that drew pushes religion on his players? Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 4, 2025 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2025 The religion talk is interesting. People coming together for a greater good and having a shared vision would likely be a very welcomed coaching attribute depending on how its handled. I think A LOT of successful coaches are religious and can teach lessons and help hardships using those morals and principles. HoosierAloha, Asha’man, realTomCrean and 19 others 22

If it was an issue I'm sure it would have come out Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk Yes it is a big part of the culture at Baylor but there's nothing wrong with it Baylor is a private Christian school. He would have to tone it down at a public school like IU. I believe a pastor speaks to the team before most games much like Sister Jean does at Loyola raorIU 1

There is being religious, and then BEING RELIGIOUS, to the point where you try to push it onto the players/ staff etc... Thats where this becomes an issue (especially with recruits) because some may find that offputting especially since there are many flavors of religion (Judaism, Islam, etc) I give zero ***** about the religion/beliefs of our coach... I just dont want them to push it on the players... The same goes for political beliefs... Wasn't there a pretty large element of that with Crean? I remember he was always posting scripture references and such on twitter early in his tenure... not a problem, per se, just a point of order. MikeRoberts 1

IU is nationally competitive in so many sports, too. Does anyone know how Cignetti or others feel about this? Cig seems pretty happy and he keeps thanking Scott and Pam for their support. I know we exceeded our NIL promise to him for last season. It seems NIL+rev share to football seems to keep going up in a meaningful way, exactly how much they got this season I don’t know. We need to keep pushing. Being good at football is a game changer for the athletic dept. MikeRoberts, Ctf9, thebigweave and 2 others 5

Sure, he can post scriptures on his social media account every hour of the day for all I care... But if he pushes it on players thats where the issue is.. In N out for example has scripture on the cups and other utensils.. The owners are very very religious.. However they do not force that religion onto the people who work at the company... But they treat their employees very very well (and pay really really well for a fast food job) spe317, mamasa, thebigweave and 6 others 8 1
