I never felt inclined to post on Peegs because it was just a weird group. It was full of trolling Purdue fans, and every IU fan would respond to trolls with comments like "5 banners, nuff said" or "win some banners then get back to us." It was always banners, banners, banners with them. I am surprised to hear it's basically unmoderated now. Back in the day it was ruled with an iron fist, and you were looking at a lifetime ban if you criticized Bill Lynch in any way. The Purdue board (GBI) was an unmoderated sh*thole and probably still is. Fire Mike Davis.com scout Hoosier sports Nation maybe btownbanners Lots of familiar diehard Hoosier friends here that I remember on these other sites that have kept the fire burning. We had a good coach that cheated in Sampson less than 1 removed from Knight but Hoosier expectations(you name it)has kept us in the dark going on 20 years past as everyone else chested worse. We now pay as much or more for everything involved and I think we have another chance. Can’t get this one wrong and after Coach cig, I have faith in Dolson.

I knew about the schedule additions, but what's this two week deadline and AAU meeting? This morning it was posted on here and another poster backed it up that SD met with Indiana AAU coaches yesterday and told them the target was someone not currently coaching college and that this person had asked for two weeks to make his decision.

I was thinking about exactly that and this in reality is the first unincumbered and non-influenced by 3rd party hire for IU men's basketball since 1971. I have 100% faith in Scott Dolson, even if it's not a common guy. Louisville hired a guy nobody had heard of and he took them from 4-28 to 19-6. I'm more concerned about the griping by some if we don't get "a name." Bob Knight wasn't "a name," and I don't think, say, Mick Cronin or Bruce Pearl fit here. schoosier, hoosierfan6157, VFury and 3 others 6
RaceToTheTop Posted February 14, 2025 Posted February 14, 2025 I think one thing hidden in all of this is that with IU's NIL, pretty much any coach we are talking about getting will have access to get better players/recruits than at any stop they've been at. There really hasn't been a shortage of talent under Woodson, just a lack of roster construction DESPITE the fact that the style of play should have discouraged many from coming. thebigweave, Hoosierinbham, lillurk and 4 others 6 1
LamarCheeks Posted February 14, 2025 Posted February 14, 2025 I haven't seen his name mentioned in a few pages (of course, I haven't been through every page) -- are we still thinking Mark Few is an option? He would have us eating lightning and crapping thunder -- though he has his hands full with San Fran right now!

Defined as 'proven' McCollum (43): D1 and D2 combined. 8 Sweet 16's and beyond with a peak of 4 National Championships. Implied to be 'unproven'. I would disagree with that logic. McDermott: Four Sweet Sixteens and one Elite Eight. McCollum as a Division 1 head coach and assistant coach combined: Four total wins against top 100 D1 opponents. Zero wins against top 40 D1 teams. Zero three, four, or five star recruits ever signed. Zero D1 conference titles. Zero players coached and got to NBA. Zero games coached against ranked teams. One total game in a P5 team’s gym. This is not 1971 giving the reins over from Lou Watson with games on channel 4. This is the face and primary decision maker for an almost $100 million annual operation. Juwan Moye Posted February 14, 2025 Posted February 14, 2025 To the point: Yes, Cignetti was a great hire and showed some coaches can make the leap from lower level competition to higher level competition. But this isn’t definitive and is not indicative of how we should pursue our basketball hire. The football program has always been a laughing stock whereas, at least historically, the basketball program is top tier. This is why the approach should be different and IU should start at the absolutely highest level when considering candidates. bird4par, Henryville Hoosier, IUHAHN81 and 1 other 4
