Here is a question?

Say Dolson lines up Stevens. Does he give his buddy, Dusty, a heads up before the announcement to allow him to use the leverage before it is lost?

Yes. But if Dusty continues to perform, the results and his merit in the job will take care of the leverage.  Some other big jobs will open eventually too … UNC, MSU, etc.

An analogy, IMO...

Picking out a great coach from the lower ranks is a lot like betting on a penny stock.

For the situation IU is in, we're looking for a blue chip guy to come in and pay dividends right away.

There could be higher upside to buying in early, but we need stability and good yield right away.

...In a different cycle I'd love taking a flyer on McCollum. Don't think it's in the cards this time around though.

Makes sense.

And on this analogy, regardless of who we get, I want Scott digging deep so we trade on as much insider info as possible.

I wonder if we get a coach like Williams or any other SEC would they be able to convince those type of athletes to come play in the big ten. It seems like there are talk out there that the top recruits don't want to play in the big ten.

I'll be honest I'm not a vest type of guy

As a vest guy, you don’t know what you’re missing. The freedom of movement with no jacket, while still announcing “I’m 100% classy” is hard to beat. I can brick a couple J’s in the driveway waiting on my wife to be ready and not worry about the tie getting in the way of my silky jumper. It’s the best of both worlds.

Michigan is going to say they are working on an extension for may to keep chatter down more to keep the noise silent for the players. May has already told Michigan that he isn't interested in contract talk until season end, could that change? sure, but right now nothing is in the works for may contract wise.

With that being said, brad is still the guy. He is the guy until he's not by his doing. Happy search season everyone!

I know you didnt say this but if Brad is the guy, what makes people say that we "got our guy"?

Timing of a lot of things.

First the announcement that Woodson would not return on the same day of the nba trade deadline. Announcing the position would be open makes other schools who could positionally worry about losing their coach, start to talk contract extension. Which leads me to believe that Scott knew that wouldn't be an issue because he's in the NBA.

With the Celtics being sold if brad was ever going to leave (excluding retirement) it would be now. There are some other minor details but the timing has me really interested.

Given that players were willing to come play in Mike Woodson’s system of all things, I think we could get players to play on the moon for enough NIL.

No white suits.

True story, in the late 90s/early 2000s my middle school in northern NJ had a JV basketball coach with a VERY Italian name (think Vincenzo Pagliuca or Michelangelo Forgione lol) and he would wear an all white suit to his games multiple times every season lol.

His teams were not good but every year he'd give the parents a bottle of wine from his "family vineyard" each season so at least he was winning in some way while cosplaying as Pitino

There's so much to digest here.

First, "announcing I'm 100% classy?" While "hard to beat," that is awkward.

And foremost? You are apparently hanging out on your driveway wearing nothing but a tie and a silky jumper is just plain disturbing.

Interesting question. Not sure what he should do, but Dolson's focus should be on improving Indiana's situation... Dusty has people to do that research...

I'm going to read your posts in Steve Buscemi's voice from now on lol.

If you like Sopranos and The Wire, assume Boardwalk Empire is also up your alley
