There is more than this just b than winning. I am embarrassed as a long time IU fan that any fan would ever want Chris Beard as our coach. He is a women beater and an alcoholic

I most likely have been a fan longer than you and I don’t support hitting women but alcoholism is disease that probably contributed to it.  He made a mistake because he’s sick, but that was then and this is now.  It appears he’s not that same person and people should have a 2nd chance.  I would welcome him as our new coach if Dolson and company decides to go a different direction and hire him.  IMO, he is a darn good coach.

Steve Forbes, Greg McDermott, Ed Cooley would be under the radar coaches I think would do well at IU.

Greg McDermott would be very interesting, do you think he'd leave Creighton if the price is right?

From what I’ve always been told by the one source whom I consider to be reliable, Stevens met with a few prominent figures at IU over dinner WHILE the Celtics were in Indianapolis to gauge interest in which he emphatically told them no thanks. This actually happened while Archie Miller was still employed.
After Archie was fired, IU offered up a Hail Mary contract to at least say they tried knowing full and well he was going to reject it. Stevens to this day still denies that offer was ever made.
Who knows what happened, but he’s not here and not ever coming here and you just don’t turn that kind of money down if you’re legitimately interested in returning college. Just like as an athletic department, you don’t go from legitimately making an offer to make BS the highest paid coach in the game to turning around and hiring 62 year old Mike Woodson 48 hours later. Theres no way Dolson went from BS to spinning the wheel and landing on Mike Woodson like that.
If some booster shelled out 7 million as reported I doubt it was to get Mike woodson. May as well kept archie another year and done a real search. You don't fire archie to hire archie. It was a gut punch.

I have no desire to see him on our sidelines. If true someone posted about how he is going back to drinking beer. To me that isn't someone looking to get better

He didn't do well at Iowa St

...14-18 years ago? Creighton is ranked 18 and has been a consistent contender/high quality product for many many years now.

I think so.    Ohio St at one time targeted him after Holtmann turned them down the first time.   He ended up staying at Creighton and Holtmann ended up at Ohio St.    at the time people were dogging the Buckeyes for going after him but he is a solid coach and really good offensive coach.    So far he has gone further in the tourney then Holtmann has

I have no idea what actually did or didn’t happen with Brad Stevens.

But I don’t think I would be in favor pursuing him either because the way I remember it, after we supposedly had discussions with him, he basically ended up saying “go $@&%# yourself, I’m a Masshole now”.

I didn’t expect Plan B to be Mike Woodson (that’s a whole other issue), but I don’t think I’d walk across the street to talk to Brad Stevens either.

Let's be for real... This school hasn't taken basketball seriously since the early 90s. If you ask me, on purpose. But... A truly serious program would have told Mike Davis to find employment elsewhere or try to stay on staff because we are hiring Pitino and not you. CLEARLY, ANY staff that cared would have told the NCAA to shove one up their arse when the Sampson stuff happened(see UNC or Kansas). Oh there is a prodigy coach at Butler that just went to back to back titles? Oh let's not hire him because we are scared of losing Zeller? Oh that coach also recruited Zeller like crazy at Butler? Well let's just keep our coach that won 28 games the past 3 years instead. That'll never come back to haunt us...

Moral of the story... Not a serious program at all. They just want the money. They don't care about the fans or the product, just your money.

I love Ed Cooley. Met him a few years ago at Butler. Seemed like a great guy. Do you think he would leave Georgetown so quickly?

He could be like Alford who is just more comfortable at a smaller program. He was good at a mid major then took the ISU job and didn't do well and then had done very well at Creighton

Probably not but he is one of those coaches that grinds and bust his butt coaching.    Huge fan of his.   He was micd up for a game and I was sold more.   He would be on my short list of coaches to flip a program.
