There's written language in his contract that states bonuses for accomplishments and results in the PAC 12, a now defunct conference lol. So what, he's now no longer entitles to any bonuses because he's not coaching in the PAC 12? Cronin has absolutely every grounds to renegotiate his contract. And if UCLA doesn't want too....he has more than a leg to stand on and challenge it in court.

Having gone through several mergers, it’s been my experience that whatever was stated in the original contract will be honored by the acquiring firm. I would imagine that these bonus opportunities would be honored if he achieved the same benchmarks in the B1G

My view is Scott had nothing to do with the Woody hire/4th year and when left alone he went out and made a very nice football hire.  I’m not arguing though, at this point it’s water under the bridge and agree to disagree is fine for me.

After the last 25 years of IUBB I can’t help but be nervous too.  But I keep going back to the fact this job profile is different in the NIL era and we seem to have a competent AD who is being substantially left alone to run this process.  That is really all I can hope for and it greatly improves our chances vs the last five hires.

I'm trying to give Dolson the benefit of the doubt after the Cignetti hire but I can understand people looking at his history and seeing possible red flags. I'm hoping for the best but also wouldn't be at all surprised by a dud hire. There is only 1 name mentioned that I would be shocked to find out is IU's next coach and it's not the guys like Brownell or Collins who are pretty meh.

He was the AD when Woodson was hired and also gave him the raise. That's true. It looks like his hand was forced and I hope that's true because, if not, then I'd give up hope on this search.

It was rumored he wanted to hire Pat Fitzgerald but got turned down by Whitten. That wouldn't have been an inspiring hire, so if this is true that would be a red flag. We ended up with Cignetti which looks great for Dolson and the search firm, which is the same as used for this hire. It's unclear if he was a name Dolson already had on his list or if the search firm recommended him, but we ended up with him so the process worked either way. Overall, since we ended up with Cignetti there is reason for optimism. It's clear that the criteria of what to look for was solid.

I will say that a lot of the names that are being thrown around I'd be very happy with. Stevens, Drew, Otzelberger at the top of the list but I'd be ok with someone like Cronin or McDermott.

So I'm trying to be optimistic but I can totally understand how others are more skeptical.

Does this rumor have any real legs? Also "looked into" (ie a possible candidate) and "wanted to hire" is much different. I doubt that it would have gotten so far as to "I want to hire this guy" and Whitten said  "no". What he did and the ongoing litigation would have seemingly removed his name from the candidate pool pretty quickly. He's still out there not coaching. So I doubt that a P5 program wanted to hire him but now he can't get a job anywhere?

Guys; "FartsMcGee" needs juice.

No telling what he could do if no juice is provided. Someone please give him some mother****ing juice!

Except for prune juice! Don’t give him the motherf****ing prune juice!

Interesting thread
It appears everyone is a connected guy now. By my count we are hiring like 15 different guys.

Lefty: [while walking with Donnie to meet up with other crime family members] When I introduce you, I'm gonna say, "This is a friend of mine." That means you're a connected guy. Now if I said instead, this is a friend of ours that would mean you a made guy.

With all the chatter with several names I would almost be surprised if we didn’t hear anything after the BTT regardless if we make the tourney or not. Or is that totally off base?

If they hire someone that is still coaching in the tournament, they won't announce it until he is done for the season

My total and complete guess: it’s been Brad for awhile but only a select few know. Otz and Drew agents really like what they’re hearing money and NIL wise and people are hearing they’d hear IU out if approached.

Thought the same but it could be Fitz was on a candidate list only. He would not really be a bad hire though, just Cigs ended up being great.

I think someone will break the news after the regular season but formal announcement after the season. JMO

That would certainly be fun! Would sort of be the best of both worlds, getting to see how far our current team can go while also learning who the new coach will be and have them start back channeling for new players.

That would mean " dolson has his guy" was true all along and isaac tor is a genius.
