I think it’s just that everyone wants insider info and for the first time in my life I have it but nobody wants to hear it because it isn’t good news and that drives me crazy. That’s really it. I’m sorry for the abrasiveness. Will try to be better.

and will try to just  beat the McCollum drum instead.

So your prediction is McCollum now?

They just like when the “insiders” talk in code or riddles, or are very vague with their info. “I know things but I can’t say now on that front…”

I do agree that Stevens to IU is not a 0% chance, but I have about the same chance to go on a date with Lily James (google her—hot!) as BS to IU though, so like 0.01% chance

So you have info...Who do you think IUs top 3 at this point are?

I truly don’t know because my info isn’t from IU side of things. I really want McCollum because  the potential upside is a 25 year run with an Xs and Os savant. Sure, Cronin has a high floor, but I don’t see titles with his lack of offensive chops. I want multi-title upside.

You wanna bet. They hired Woodson and archie. Plus bronwell is pure. No speeding tickets.

Dolson wasn’t the reason IU hired those clowns.

yeah, my point was that no one will believe any insight that isn’t what they wanna hear. I’ve been saying for weeks Stevens has been 100% out from the jump. He just doesn’t wanna leave the Celtics for IU. Period.  Of course it makes total sense, because leading the Celtics organization is a better job than coaching at IU, but no one buys that someone may know it for a fact because cognitive dissonance has a stranglehold on this board.
If you feel this way, then why do you repeatedly come back here and feel the need to tell people how you feel. We heard you the first 10 times you posted this same nonsense. If I go to a restaurant and I can't stand the food or service, I don't keep going back every Friday for happy hour....

It would be an interesting thing to take a stab at guessing at a top-3, non-Stevens division, current college coaches. In no particular order:

Mark Few

Scott Drew

Otz

Because I care about IU and the search like everyone else. But again I apologize for the abrasiveness. I will be better and will focus my thoughts on other coaching options.

Oh man Hornsby has his new fixation since Woody being gone has settled. Everyone prepare for slightly reworded posts about how we are doomed to hire Brownell for the next 3-4 weeks. (I kid, I kid)

Nothing against him but I scroll past his post when I see his name. I honestly remember anything positive. I'm sure some do that to my post too.

Did you ask Brad? Someone in the Celtics org? Just would like some clarification on that....and yeah I think Cronin is where our floor is when it comes to hiring...He knows how to win at least. Idk if he has multi title upside. McCollum would be solid.

Cronin would be Tom Crean level ceiling but more consistency. Not bad but not worth his buyout.

You can’t remember anything positive because it’s never happened. It’s the classic old man yelling at the clouds scenario. I’m choosing positivity only in my coach search szn.

Not that he's been talked about a lot but you can probably take Buzz off the list. That's A LOT of cash.

Buzz is lower on my list, but I would have been happy for the hire

I 100% expect it to be bronwell or someone like him. We have already crossed off like 5 names probably because they aren't pure. Stevens isn't happening

I'm sorry you're so miserable all the time...I never realized how unhealthy following IU basketball can be...you're in my thoughts and prayers...hopefully better days are ahead...

This is his 15th season at Clemson.  He’s made the Elite 8 one time and the Sweet 16 one time during his tenure.  Not a good idea, imo.
Nope but tunnel vision will look at his current team not the past 15 years. I still think we hire someone like him though given how many current well known guys won't be considered due to the morality test. Most all proven winners have something in their past. It's going to be bronwell or some flavor on the month. We had our guy last year and let him get away

Directly connected to Dolson. Let's just say I speak regularly with someone who speaks with Dolson every day. 1 of the very, very few people who actually knows specific names he is targeting. Either this guy is giving me bad info on purpose about Stevens - honestly could be a smokescreen - or he gave me good info into the current landscape of the search.

Used to go by a different name on this site but deleted that account. maybe Chris will remember, but I told him Archie would be the hire about a week before he was announced via DMs. Don't post on other boards, but have lurked here for a while. Don't want to be the bad guy, i want stevens just as much as everyone else and hope this is just bad info. figured i'd pass along what i heard yesterday

Was Stevens ever the guy?  Did Scott have on-going conversations with him throughout the year (or longer)?  If he did, was there a point when Stevens said no?
