Nate Oats is already somewhere with pretty substantial financial commitment to basketball. Every football school is now effectively by extension a basketball school too. People forget that football is about 80-90% of funding these days. Basketball definitely takes a back seat to football on the national stage; the national audience generally only pays attention to college basketball when the tourney rolls around. In this era, football drives the bus of athletic finances, and that's why it was so important for Indiana under Whitten and Dolson's leadership to finally "get it" and make a serious investment in football. It matters now more than ever that we embrace football at Indiana, whether we like it or not. Bottom line: Alabama will be good at basketball for the foreseeable future, and Nate Oats likely won't be going anywhere. Thanks to football, they have the money to stave off any blue blood that comes calling. Edited February 26, 2025 by JustWinBaby johnsoniu, thebigweave and Silat Player 3

I still don't get why we caved in on the Lucas Oil game. Seems that UK got the better end of the deal. Starts there and they get a year at Lucas Oil. I believe Crean was trying to get them back on the schedule when he was here with a home and home with a game in Louisville and one in Indy in between, and Cal wanted nothing to do with home games because he wanted a game in Indy for recruiting. lillurk Posted February 26, 2025 Posted February 26, 2025 Big game tonight, I bet we get some interesting leakage tomorrow about the search one way or another. Not, like, reporting, just more whisper campaign stuff after some of the donors, department staff, etc are all in the same place again. I think every high-caliber head coaching candidate is a "pipe dream" at this point simply because there is no information leaking whatsoever, all we know right now is that there are highly confident and excited vibes amongst donors. Other than that, it's anyone's guess. I do not think that Indiana is even remotely considering guys like McCollum or Cronin if this is the vibe. I believe we are getting one of Brad Stevens, Scott Drew, TJ Otz, or someone else with an impeccable résumé. In other words, I think we're going to get a "pipe dream" caliber coach. We just don't know who yet, and with so little info, everyone at this point seems like a long shot. Edited February 26, 2025 by JustWinBaby
hoosiersoxfan Posted February 26, 2025 Posted February 26, 2025 I've heard Pope wants to get the home/home matchups going again too for after the 2028 game at Assembly Hall so if Pope is still at Kentucky in a few years, expect 2029 to be at Rupp and then will go back and forth like it used to. schoosier Posted February 26, 2025 Posted February 26, 2025 Over the past four years, Moser has gone 46-8 in nonconference play...but 23-41 against conference foes. But you call other people out for not providing proof when you’re not providing proof yourself? Isn’t that a little hypocritical? Sure, but he wasn't wrong when he said people who believe BS is coming, don't ask for proof, but when someone else says he isn't coming , they ask for proof. That is just as hypocritical IMO. I think Truth is wrong to demand that people stop believing he is coming. People can believe what they want. I personally don't think it will happen, but I would be ecstatic if it does. What I don't like to see is if we don't get him, some seem to think the sky is falling and we will hire another Woodson. ALASKA HOOSIER 1

I saw that the Lucas Oil game is considered a home game and not a neutral site game. That means that IU controls the tickets like a home game. It's possible IU wanted that for some reason (I think it was Cal but just saying it's possible). It does seem like it would be better to have both home games in Bloomington, at least to me.

Thanks Woody for losing to Calipari on the neutral site. PS: Before anyone jumps down my throat, I know Woody is not to blame for 2026 neutral site. But he kind of is LOL.
