Would argue against Alford as well but Fife, as head coach? On the basis that Fife was originally brought here to be coach in waiting. I think the main thing pro-Cronin is simply getting us back to being a consistent tournament team. We have to crawl before we can walk. I’d say that’s all but guaranteed with him. McCollum remains an unknown on that front no matter how well he’s done at a lower level. But I think he probably is the real deal, this hire is just too critical and people have Archie phobia of the flavor of the month so to speak— and he had some better wins. Cronin went 16-17 at UCLA last season in his fifth year there rcbowla, cybergates, HoosierTrav and 3 others 5 1

Yet people would scream bloody murder if we hire Bennett, and celebrate hiring McCollum. Go figure... Exactly…and Bennett actually won a D1 National Title. If you’re arguing for McCollum then let’s get Bennett lol. McCollum is way down the list so I think this is all a moot point…but alum and fellow fans wonder why we have to make a move every 3-5 years. It’s exact hires like this that do it. Could McCollum be a very good coach? Yes, but there’s an equal or even higher chance he’s a complete dud. No thanks when we have so many other viable candidates. And stop with the Cignetti talk and comparison..his mentor was arguably the greatest college football coach ever whom he coached with for multiple years. Cignetti also had more years in D1. IU Prof 1

I swear I’m going to bite the bullet and spend 6 bucks one day but today is not that day. It’s a whole lot of nonsense. Been on the Brad train the entire time, but there’s been a lot of dooming in there. It’s fun but it’s a lot joking and not much substance. Trilly does pop in occasionally to let us know what he knows, but at this point he’s not sure what’s going on.

McCollum is riskier but has a higher ceiling IMO Why would Cronin produce similar results to Crean when he hasn’t for the past 15 years? Crean’s last four years at IU he went 17-15, 20-14, 27-8, and 18-16. Cronin has lost more than 12 games in a season once in the last 15 seasons. I guess he’s Crean if you make Crean’s bad seasons better and his good seasons just as good or better. thebigweave, 8bucks, Home Jersey and 3 others 6

It’s not. Efficiency is. If McCollums ceiling is Tony Bennett then sign me up. Thanks for proving my point that McCollums ceiling is higher than Cronin’s. And your comment that he was “buried in D2 without sniffing D1 until recently” is absurd and shows your ignorance towards the matter. He was approached multiple times by D1 schools and was selective in choosing Drake. He wasn’t buried in D2….. he completely dominated it. So McCollums teams play slow, Bennett's teams play slow, therefore McCollum's ceiling is Tony Bennett? You are basing that off of nothing. Yes, what he did at the D2 level is impressive. That means jack squat when it comes to succeeding at the highest level of college basketball.
