I don't necessarily disagree, but I'd feel a lot better about him if he'd been able to succeed despite being under manned. I'm tired of coaches who can only win when they have superior talent.

I may not have the right poster but I was on another site mostly during the Billy Donovan "hire" and am pretty sure you had a post on here that said you saw a bunch of black SUVs pull up and guys with briefcases got out and were in AH.  Was that you?  If so, any idea who they were or was it a joke I took for reals by mistake.  Either way, I think that was when i switched over here full time.

And I get people wanting to welcome people, being polite etc, but from my vantage point these types of posters are actively aiming to discredit people on here by spouting nonsense. Maybe I’ve been an internet user for too long.

As long as people like yourself don’t stop engaging because asshats attack you and try to discredit you then all good.

I know an acquaintance of Thad’s, & Thad has admitted he doesn’t have the energy he used to coach with, I wondered to myself if that means just physical fatigue or that their passion for coaching has diminished, which is a danger for someone that has left coaching voluntarily because they wanted, let’s say, an executive position or something.

Not really. They take on the burden of doing a lot of the work that AD doesn't have time for. Like @Hovadipo said, they do background checks, PR, logistics. They're a middleman which serves as a point of contact for the agents of interested coaches to go to and they'll reach out to the agents of coaches IU is interested in to gauge interest. They might add a few suggestions based on the school's criteria, but their main purpose it to shoulder the burden of all the leg work that the AD can't do or doesn't want to do.

They have the added benefit of when IU reaches a deal with someone, they can say "this was the first guy we went after" with it technically not being a lie.

Man I was on my honeymoon in 2016 when the news broke IU hired Archie I was so pissed (Obviously I bought the Billy Donovan rumors hook, line, and sinker) . Called Archie the mid-major flavor of the month. LOL 

We left on on a cruise the next day didn't have internet till we got to the resort in Mexico, saw Archie hired Flint and Schilling. Apparently spent the rest of my trip drunkenly lecturing poor innocent people at the swim up open bar how BACK IU basketball was according to my wife. LOL

I don’t remember that if it was me but wouldn’t put it past me. I remember being at Assembly Hall when they said Pitino was there. But if it was the Mike Davis era I was on Peegs.
