Look guys I don’t blame you a second for the initial reaction and take no offense at your skepticism. And I will say it’s not like I’m in the room for these convos or that mark or the IU AD or anyone directly involved in these conversations has told me this stuff firsthand. Just thought it’d be of interest that this is what I’ve been told by being indirectly connected to this specific direction of the process.  And if you take a breath and think about it from a 90,000 foot view, it actually does make some sense in my opinion.

No it doesn’t

‘the DMV’ credits an account two hours ago, says no one has a desk and then throws out the name Mark Turgeon.  Come on y’all.

this is either a Maryland fan troll or Jordan Geronimo.

Can you please tell me wtf is going on with the Indianapolis regional center? That place is a black hole for packages. Are they going to get it sorted out anytime soon?

Your guess is as good as mine.  All packages go through  Indy.  All I can tell my customers is when I get it you will get it.   Only notification to pay attention to is the out for delivery one.   If you see that one then your carrier has it for that day

I'm laughing so hard in my office right now with all of these names I had someone come stick their head in the door to ask if everything is all right. I started to explain but it sounded so crazy, I just said yeah I'm fine

You having a legit back and forth humoring this dude has been killing me today. This has been high comedy. Our random new guy a day with hot takes streak is at like five if you’re scoring at home.

Actually, Brad Brownell makes more sense than Turgeon.  There are at least 15 candidates that make more sense than Turgeon.  Turgeon might be a good guy and a decent coach, but he is in no way a serious candidate for the IU coach position.

From 90,000 feet it does make sense. I would be cold, lonely, and balled up in the fetal position trying not to vomit and reconsidering my life choices 90,000 feet up in the air.

Makes me want to create a burner tomorrow with a really messed up name to make it 6 in a row

Go get that tooth you got knocked out fixed, Jordan.  Go sell crazy elsewhere, we’re all full up.

no one working for a search firm would ever admit to doing so publicly online.

I don’t work for a search firm and don’t know anyone who does, either. I haven’t said that, someone else did. Like I said, just a random personal connection.

look, again, I don’t take offense and sort of realize now that sharing was probably a dumb idea.

Yeah, for that to make sense, you’d have to be very high so 90k feet is about right.

It'll be ok Mark

I’m just a lurker here but I will say Turgeon fits with at least two other Dolson attempted hires: Fitzgerald in football and Matta in basketball.

I would much rather risk a young and unproven coach than go this route but I do think there’s evidence that this is a route that appeals to Dolson.

I suggest you go punch this fake random connection in the face.  Troll elsewhere.

Minus a couple final fours and BigTen championships, but yea, close.

This is probably a stupid question, but if IU is interested in Dusty May, what is the process? Do they have to ask Michigan for permission to talk to him, is May free to just meet and discuss job openings without informing anyone, or is there an unwritten code of ethics that schools normally follow? Just curious if there is a procedure.

Unlike the professional leagues, I don't think there are any NCAA or Conference rules about seeking out coaches or coaches seeking out opportunities.  However, I suspect most preliminary work is done on a clandestine basis via agents.  Any agent worth anything, is on the phone to Scott trying to get his guy on "the list," if only to get an increase from his current school.  If you're a guy like May, you really want to find out if you're 1 or 2, or 3-5 -- so you know how serious to approach you extension at Michigan.  If you're a lesser know guy out of left field, you let him know there is interest and sell your guy.  Scott is doing the reverse.  Looking down his list and calling agents saying "what if?"
