I agree everyone deserves a 2nd chance but it’s hard for me to give him one at a school I love.  Having a mother, wife, and daughter it would be very hard for me to support the hire, wins or not.  No place for domestic violence (and I’m not saying you condone that in any way). That’s just my opinion and it really only matters to me I guess.  Very, very good coach, just the wrong kind of crime for myself to be able to forgive.

I might even be able to forgive what Beard did if there was any sign he was reformed. But by all accounts, he's still drinking, and he's never taken any responsibility publicly for the DV incident. So no forgiveness earned.

Which is EXACTLY why no one should conclude that a smart hire will be made this time with the same people in place.  Buckner , schmuckner, the same team is making this call…

I understand what you are saying, but I think Dolson knows better this time who to listen to and who not to listen to, I feel confident, especially after Cignetti, that he is going to get us a very good coach!

Your post reminded me that we haven’t heard much from Ted Kitchel this time around, I know he has some health problems but I am surprised he hasn’t given his two cents!

Not sure that this will make sense to some people. Hell, a lot of stuff posted here doesn’t make sense. But here’s my take on Beard.

Yes, a good coach who can win big here

Yes, he would be divisive. He might drive off some big donors, but if he starts winning like I think he can, they’d start coming back.

Yes he’s a big risk.

All that to say. Based on his stated love and respect of RMK. Based on him outwardly expressing that he wants the IU job. I think Chris Beard would turn a new leaf in Bloomington. I think he views IU as his church, and RMK his mentor. I believe that he would not do anything that would tarnish those things he holds as so important to him. For lack of better words, I think IU would be the salvation for Chris Beard.

Whether the opportunity exists for him will require some open minds who believe in the concept of redemption. Whether the opportunity exists is going to take leadership who believes that the IU brand is strong enough to take the initial hit it will undoubtedly take, and believe that the reward is worth the risk.

I have personally seen people who have been in as low or lower places than Beard, and have changed themselves to become well respected individuals who contribute to the greater good of society. All it takes is one person, one group of leaders, to give him the chance.

Chris Beard was hired to coach Ole Miss for $3.25M / year, less than 3 months after being fired for cause from Texas due to his arrest for felony domestic violence. He's doing just fine without us on the "getting second chances" front.

Two things Brad Stevens and Brad Brownell have in common. They both were born in Indiana and both played bb and graduated from Depauw in Greenfield, IN. (Stevens 95-99, Brownell 88-91)

That’s about it. Lol ;)

3 things, they both are named Brad, lol!

Leary made a good point on Coyle's show yesterday about Dusty...he thought it would be easier for him to leave UM after one year than being there multiple years because of establishing roots.  I guess I never thought about it that way, but kind of makes sense.

To me, it all comes down to how much he wants to coach at IU. He’s gonna get paid either way. If he really wants to coach at IU and is offered the job, it may be his only chance. Question is: how important is it to him?

Then, you’d be okay hiring him?

Yep. Because other than love for IU, the unfortunate truth is there’s very little reason to move on from UM, when you’re currently in 1st place with a solid recruiting class. The leverage Dusty has over Michigan, especially with Stevens statement to Goodman, is stronger than ever. Michigan will want to close ASAP and he has no reason - on paper - to hold out just to come back to his alma mater. Now… maybe being close to family changes the equation for him. But it’s not like Ann Arbor is in Far East Asia, lol.

Hey guys :)

I haven’t been on in a couple weeks.  It looks like this is the place to be lol.  Can someone provide a quick recap on where we are at or DM me?  I don’t think I can read this many pages lol.

Well -- we were going to this bingo parlor at the YMCA, well one thing led to another, and the instructions got all fouled up...
