I love "insiders" whether they are wrong or right. It's just fun to talk basketball with fellow Hoosier fans who have been subjected to the same misery as myself. But some of you guys are so bipolar and need to chill. The mood goes up and down by the minute. "Yes, we are getting Brad Stevens." *10 minutes later* "Brad Stevens was never going to happen!" *5 minutes later* "It was all a smoke screen. Brad Stevens is signing his contract Monday!" *30 seconds later* "Actually it's Brad Brownell who is signing the contract!! He is Dolsons "guy". Our program is doomed. Panic!" Popular Post steubenhoosier Posted February 15 Popular Post Posted February 15 Not sure that this will make sense to some people. Hell, a lot of stuff posted here doesn’t make sense. But here’s my take on Beard. Yes, a good coach who can win big here Yes, he would be divisive. He might drive off some big donors, but if he starts winning like I think he can, they’d start coming back. Yes he’s a big risk. All that to say. Based on his stated love and respect of RMK. Based on him outwardly expressing that he wants the IU job. I think Chris Beard would turn a new leaf in Bloomington. I think he views IU as his church, and RMK his mentor. I believe that he would not do anything that would tarnish those things he holds as so important to him. For lack of better words, I think IU would be the salvation for Chris Beard. Whether the opportunity exists for him will require some open minds who believe in the concept of redemption. Whether the opportunity exists is going to take leadership who believes that the IU brand is strong enough to take the initial hit it will undoubtedly take, and believe that the reward is worth the risk. I have personally seen people who have been in as low or lower places than Beard, and have changed themselves to become well respected individuals who contribute to the greater good of society. All it takes is one person, one group of leaders, to give him the chance. HinnyHoosier, Ghost of Rick Majerus, VFury and 14 others 14 3

Some of those mistakes are inexcusable. But people change. He is #1 on my list. Always has been. Not sure where this student journalist got his info. But I know he knows the Goodman girl. I told my son tell that kid that being first isn’t important if you’re wrong. Yeah I edited out that second paragraph cause it was too salty. Awesome you gave him that advice. People need to be able to trust him in his line of work.

RaceToTheTop Posted February 15 Posted February 15 lot of people jumping from one former playing saying not to be surprised if it’s Brownell to assuming it will be brownell. fwiw, while should not be the hire….but he is a good basketball coach. Demo, lillurk, thebigweave and 1 other 3 1

Everyone better says, no, we don’t want to take a chance on an up and comer. They’ll rationalize we need someone to get us over the hump for the next 5-6 years, become consistent, then make a “big hire”, basically repeat what they tried to do with Woody.
