Is he pushing him, or did Dolson ask Cig about him because of their connection; and he gave him a positive review?  Pretty big difference, and I hope it's the latter, as the football coach should have no say or huge influence on the decision of a basketball coach.

He coached at JMU while Cig was there.  I assume they are friends.

If you are expecting a championship caliber team every year you probably will be disappointed. Even RMK had some seasons they weren't a championship caliber teams

Same,I know he's a decent coach but something about him rubs me the wrong way.

 I've watched him through the years and I believe the abrasivness would wear thin rather quickly here Just like the strangeness did with crean.

With the salary we can offer and our NIL budget we should be able to hire a coach that can get us consistently into the tournament, with teams that frequently are favorites to make it to the second weekend, and at times put it all together for a championship run.

Probably because Woodson was actually fired and everyone knows it? The IU press release that Woodson decided to retire didn't fool many.

Might be misremembering, but I thought 4 years ago he wouldn't talk to us until Archie Miller was gone because he didn't want to be linked to a job that wasn't open, and be seen as someone who pushed Miller out the door.

I appreciate all the support. I love being a part of this place for the last so many years. I will continue to share what I hear. I will be right sometimes and wrong probably more than I would like. Do I get some bad information sometimes yes but I don’t think it was this time. So to the ones that are my friends thank you, to the ones who blast me, love you guys too. It’s a beautiful weekend and let’s see how this plays out. PS I was told my beautiful mug was all over the TV last night. Pretty sure a modeling agency will be knocking on my door any day now.

To each their own, but I think Cronin is an above average coach, at best, and we can do measurably better. 

He’s a top 15-20 coach in the sport. So no, he’s not the top option, or one of the top-3, but again we’d be silly to not be happy with him.

He doesn’t “excite” me to the original point but acting like he’s not a good coach, or even calling him an average coach, is factually incorrect.

I think we could certainly do worse, but I just don’t see us spending that much for his buyout.

Oats is worth his buyout. Cronin I don’t think is.

Goob, I think what you’re describing is going to be effective next year or the one after, can’t recall which. When the revenue sharing agreement kicks in, the schools will pay players directly. There are title 9 implications and I think it’s up to each school how to allocate the money. I assume / hope a lot of coaches will manage their budget by paying a base rate per roster spot, with NIL sweeteners / incentives agreed separately based on their marketability… interesting times in college sports
