I guess I don't understand why people think there would be so many clandestine meetings in Florida for a deal like this. Yes, I think people would want to meeting face to face a couple times, but most negotiating can take place over Zoom these days. There's no reason for people this busy to be wasting hours at a time to fly to/from Florida for a discussion that could be held over Zoom in 30 minutes.

Sure, but it’s not as fun speculating about Zoom meetings as it is to track random planes around the country and try to connect the dots with other random tidbits that may or may not be accurate/timely lol. Have a feeling this is gonna take forever.

What's the hurry?

Just because fans want an answer.  Immediate gratification R us.

Maybe Brad has to get back from his meeting with the Lealtor checking out houses on Lake Monroe.  Maybe Brad's better half is seeking to become the representative of all of the basketball players on the Pacers as well as the Celtics.   Maybe Brad wants two weeks and other coaches are still coaching games.

Patience grasshopper.

Or maybe it reflect a reluctance or resistance.  I made no demand or need for an answer, simply expressed my opinion that the longer it goes on, the less likely it is to happen.  Easy, killer.

How many times are people claiming they met in Florida?

If we gave Brad a deadline that’s a good sign that Scott knows what he’s doing. We can’t sit back and wait for Brad to make a decision. He either wants the job or he doesn’t. Schools like Michigan are looking to lock their guys up now that they know we have an opening. If the deadline passes then Scott needs to make a hard pivot to Dusty. I understand that there are limits on what you can do during the season, but it needs to be conveyed to Dusty that we’re prepared to back up the brinks truck the second we’re allowed to do so. I’m that confident in him now.

There was a theory they were meeting a couple days ago in Miami, and now new flight tracking today for Miami.

Yeah, heard that Dolson was looking for one more donor's concurrence.  Johnny Cougar just gave it to him.

Maybe.  Just saying.

McDermott: Four Sweet Sixteens and one Elite Eight.

McCollum as a Division 1 head coach and assistant coach combined: Four total wins against top 100 teams D1 opponents. Zero wins against top 40 D1 teams. Zero three, four, or five star recruits ever signed. Zero D1 conference titles. Zero players coached and got to NBA. Zero games coached against ranked teams. One total game in a P5 team’s gym.

This is not 1971 giving the reins over from Lou Watson with games on channel 4. This is the face and primary decision maker for an almost $100 million annual operation.

Let's say the experience on the off the court stuff is a significant edge to McDermott.

On the flip side, I view the on the court comparison as a clear win for McCollum.  McDermott has some DII time that can be used as part of that.

Navigating the off the court stuff can be learned much easier than someone suddenly becoming a better on the court coach.  The argument becomes even more relevant when you consider McDermott is 60.

McDermott is like Drew Brees.  Long career of success without being a real threat year end and year out, but is good enough to get over the hump (intentional use of that word) should things break right.

McCollum is Tom Brady.

All star break. And if you want someone you meet in person. You make the time for them.

*if Tom Brady had solely played Division 2 football until this year and had never played against an above average NFL team.

So answer my question; other than more D2 tourney success with a lesser D2 win%, what makes McCollum a better choice than Schertz?

Because Schertz also completely dominated in D2 and has a significantly better D1 resume.

Chris has taken a sworn celibacy until Brad Stevens is named Head Coach of the Hoosiers. I think more folks here need to follow his lead!
