People like to throw around Romeo's name a lot for a lot of blame. I don't know why we'd blame a kid who could have just gotten his surgery at the beginning of the season, sat out and been a top 5 pick. Instead he battled through the injury on a crappy team and in an offense that only hurt him more. There is only 1 very consistent thing that's been around all 4 years during all of this teams problems.

Probably just a Justin thing. That guy wasn’t a team player. On Romeo, he played hurt the entire year. I can’t stand it when people rag on him for how he played. He averaged near 20 pts/gm with a crappy offense and unlucky injuries. He did as well as he could. Archie would just throw him in the corner and wait for the ball. Romeo should’ve had the ball in his hands most of the time. He was clearly the best player on the team. I don’t care that he didn’t play the NIT, aka the not invited tournament, because it means nothing

Let’s say the “same page” does indeed have to do with them both thinking there needs to be a change... I wonder if at this point Archie’s people have sent out feelers to other schools for himself, or if it could be too early for him to do that yet.

Dana Altman has a buy-out of $18million? He's off the list.

Tony Bennett has a buy-out of $21 million. He's off the list.

Rick Barnes and Chris Beard? $15 and $16 million dollars.

Nate Oats is $14 million

Steve Alford has a $9million dollar buy-out? Thank god. Too rich for our blood right now. LOL

Meh. Not sure about the other contracts but Beards is basically an Anti- compete with schools in Texas. The buyout dramatically drops, I think to 3 or 6 million, if the school isn’t in Texas. The others may be similar

He mentioned inconsistent several times. I thought to myself men's basketball hasn't been inconsistent, it's been pretty consistent the whole year

This. Right. Here.

You could look at the same page differently and more simple as being Dolson telling Archie he’s not living up to his expectations of the program and Archie saying he understands and agrees. That would put them on the same page...so yeah,  you can’t really take the same page thing as a definite 100% way without really knowing how they are feeling and the context of it. Could go either way.

My biggest issue with Romeo was how he was used and that wasn't his fault. Standing in the corner all the time on offense and doing nothing. Franklin got used at times like that this year. That's a coaching decision that I don't understand.

It's $3M I believe for Beard if the school is not in Texas and possibly the Big 12 (not sure on that). It was basically a stiff arm to Texas in case they came a knockin'.

Yes, I have a vivid memory of a Romeo/Juwan pick and roll on an empty side in the home game vs Purdue that year. It led to a Juwan dunk or layup. They should’ve dared teams to stop that kind of action.

Same with Franklin this year. He had some turnover issues but IU badly needed a guard to make plays and he could do that.

I am sad to see Chris Beard’s buyout is so much.🥲

I genuinely worry that 1) IU stays the course, 2) IU has a decent season, and 3) IU sticks with Miller.

It’s not my call but it isn’t working and seems to be going the wrong way based on the last month and the recruiting. There’s a pretty good group coming back, especially on the perimeter with Franklin, Stewart, and an improved Lander (plus I like Rob but I think he’d be better under a different coach).

I can see the logic with waiting if you really think there’s a small number of coaches who can win at IU. I disagree, like @Chris007 , and think most competent options would be an immediate and long-term upgrade. Like @hoosierpap I live outside the state now and think the recruiting base and resources make IU a sleeping giant so I’m less convinced you need some hard-to-find “perfect fit.”

Like a lot of y’all I typically watch every game, read and think about the team a ton, and that enthusiasm has waned big time.

Anyway, what if IU’s like 23-13 (10-10) next year but plays into the sweet sixteen after they upset a 2 or 3 seed in the second round? That wouldn’t really change my perspective on Miller but I worry it would just delay the inevitable longer.

We'd be in the same position we were with Crean then.

I'd like to think we'd be smart enough to know we have a candidate lined up before we fire Archie. Firing Archie and having a pool of candidates send in their resume doesn't seem like a practical practice at a Big Ten school like Indiana.

We interviewed a mid-major guy four years ago. Coaches weren't lining up by the looks of it.

So the only reason we will have a better candidate next year is that our buyout will be cheaper?

Let's play a game.  Name all of the current Big Ten coaches that have coached for at least 4 years in the Big Ten (so exclude Ferry, Howard, and Hoiberg) that have not achieved a winning record in conference play in their first 4 years coaching in the Big Ten.

Ryan Joseph Miller. What do I win?
