Doesn’t he had Brownell as #2 on his hot board or something like that?  Time to update it to version 6.0!

Hey now, they moved Cig up on the Hotboard right before he was hired, after putting him in the no longer under consideration section for weeks prior.   What are you saying exactly?

Curry hicks saying McCollum is out and it's either Devries or a total dark horse

Curry Sage Spaces tonight says he’s hearing McCollum met with Iowa this weekend and couldn’t agree to terms because of NIL but he may end up taking it anyway.  Sounds like in general the NIL situation for men’s basketball is a mess at Iowa.  Brownell to IU is out.  Curry seems to think it is either DeVries or a higher caliber (Stevens/May/Wade) for IU.  He doesn’t seem certain at all…just trying to connect dots.  “Inclinations” as he called it.  He has a trusted sources that it’s not McCollum, Brownell or McDermott for IU but it is done.  If not DeVries….he thinks it’s someone “really f*cking big”

already has a better job at a much better program in a better conference.

That’s doubtful unless they can get their spend up. I really wish I would’ve saved this tweet but somebody broke down the tournament teams by last years spending. UF was below average at less than $8mil. Tops was 22mil and IU would’ve been in the top 5.

Maybe it shakes out differently, but some of those coaches are gonna learn what it means to be a football school.

CurryHicksSage basically saying if it’s not DeVries, then he believes it’s someone in the Brad Stevens/Dusty May/Will Wade echelon. He also says he does not believe it is McCollum, Brownell or McDermott.

He doubled down and said “if it’s not DeVries, then it’s really someone f***ing big.”

Was about to post this, didn’t hear the Devries part though, only the big fish part

If Iowa doesn’t have the NIL to meet McCollum’s demands then there’s no way they’re meeting DeVries’s, right?

Keeping on saying that does not make it true.

Darian Devries is most certainly not a “lower tier coach.” He’s just not an extraordinarily famous coach

This…I think some are going to be disappointed if/when the name isn’t Stevens, Pearl, Wright. If anyone paid attention to UK/UL search last year, then nobody should be expecting too much different. Scott should absolutely swing for the fences with top coaches but when we hire a McCollum/DeVries/McMillan it shouldn’t be a surprise. We aren’t hiring Beard or Wade unfortunately.

How can it be done and potentially Devries if Devries met with Iowa today?

He emphasized that last piece. Said he wished he had a plug at IU, but admitted he was working this out loud and can’t make sense of it if it’s not DeVries

Extensions mean nothing and a buyout under 10m is no obstacle if both parties want it to happen. He signed an extension at FAU then took meetings with at least 2 schools we know of. If he wants to be our coach he will be. I don't think he's ever implied it was a career dream of his to coach IU.

That and they have a WVU guy on that doesn’t think it makes sense that DeVries would leave after 1 year to go to Iowa as he knew it would likely be open now when he left Drake last season.  Also they all think that Iowa isn’t necessarily a better job than WVU

Big. Like, say, Wright big?

Well, ok, but we all have emotional attachments to where we grew up. So, while they may not be different, the emotional attachment may be quite different.

I grew up in Indiana, tried for a long time to reach certain levels in my career there and while I was able to progress at a certain point I hit a ceiling.  Florida came calling and I landed the job I had been preparing for, searching for and hoping for but it wasnt until I decided to listen to Florida.  I could have stayed in Indiana but my career path was better for me to come here.  I don't even make several million $ which would make it easier to get back and forth to places I have emotional attachments to.
