I obviously wasn’t in the room, but a lot of people aside from here have discussed it.   It sounded like Dolson was ready to move on - then QB got in the way and secured $4+mm in NIL for Woodson to ensure he didn’t fail this year … yet here we are.

That's a good point about NIL. If Iowa is financially constrained to buy out Devries at $4M, how does that play to NIL. If I were a coach and school X has unlimited funds seemingly and School Y has very limited funds (in a harder place to recruit to as well) - the choice would be easy

One thing I haven’t seen confirmed - did QB give Dolson a quid pro quo?   “Here is $10mm to buy out Archie, but you need to hire Stevens and if he says no, you hire Woodson?”

Because he's already taken?  DeVries would only be announced before because he didn't make the tournament, not because Iowa got to pick first.  

No way they take Devries over the golden boy. That's beyond dumb.

And there is the risk.  I think a lot of people expect a Dusty May style turn around.  Dusty at least had D1 experience and a FF4 run.

That’s my thought too.  But on the flip side, if McCollums heart and dream job are Iowa and he feels like he could win there, would he prefer that job?    I could see it both ways.  
 

And I’m assuming Iowa nor Indiana fired their coaches without having some sort of preliminary conversations with these candidates (and others)
