Non-playoff bowl games are meaningless. The NCAA Tournament is not, even for a team like McNeese St.

The question was, can coaches leave while still employed. The nature of the game is irrelevant

Itd be more fun if they were all en route to Bloomington no?

I know what you mean but I audibly laughed at the thought of “us” flying from Indy to Bloomington which, presumably means driving from Bloomington to Indy first. Go get him Scotty!!

Said target could be on the flight that comes back to Indianapolis…

Think my ellipsis might have been read as sarcasm; I think this search has been strange enough that there is something strange going on in the background. And because this is the group of people paying the closest attention to this search, I think the hivemind has a decent enough grasp of what's going on.

Circumstantial evidence/all the posters make me think that there's someone getting hired who isn't coaching, and who is a big fish. It also seems like there has been effort to throw people off. Interesting to see how this comes to fruition.

Football coaches have left their employer before a bowl game, and assistants have taken over. Assume that they can

It's also not without precedence in basketball... the one that comes to mind is Bill Frieder at Michigan... he announced that he was moving to Arizona State and Bo Schembeckler sent him packing... Steve Fischer won the NCAA Tournament that year and became the only coach to win the NCAA and be undefeated for his career. (at least until the next season began).

They are now, but not so much previously when there was no playoff or when the playoff was only 4 teams.

Honestly, why even until Wednesday? I’d think tomorrow if it’s him.

Because he is still working for the Celtics,  just maybe?
