You think our "strategy" is the same as it was 20, or even five years ago?

Please explain; what strategy are you referring to, and how is the Mike Woodson era replicating this strategy that you've identified was also being used by Archie Miller, Tom Craen, Kelvin Sampson, and Mike Davis?

"Mongolian Mike" - Mike Sharavjamts has entered the portal a 6-8 guard/forward played at Dayton last year. 6 pts, 2 rbds, played 32 games, started 20 as a freshman. shot 32% from 3. Can handle the ball very well. Played his senior year at Centerville OH where someone else we know well was on the team.  

Former 4 star recruit. #93 in the 247 composite. Long-lanky with skills better suited for the perimeter than the post. Could easily play the 3 I think.

A small bit of push back.  I don't look it as those coaches that follow same pattern but the administrations follow the same playbook. They are really behind the ball in my opinion (recruiting coaches, identifying specific resources, marketing opportunities, and proper correspondence to the Big Ten.

Not gonna lie, I don’t care about his stats, love that kid. He could be a legit 6’8” PG if you wanted to use him that way. He’s got such great vision. He’s super creative in pick and roll. Exceptional instincts playing the passing lanes. 2 issues: 1) His shot is a little funky and he’s steaky from 3. Can make 5 straight then miss 10. 2) He’s built like a stick figure and adding 20-30 lbs doesn’t look at all likely.

Fair enough...

You identify one thing that surprises me as us potentially being behind on; marketing opportunities. Seems as though our NIL can compete with any big-time program.

I watched the YouTube link I posted of his scoring highlights. Crazy to see someone with his height and length handle the ball and move so fluidly. Even showed a couple post moves with a smaller defender on him.

He'd be a three year take. It's an interesting stat line - got a lot of minutes on a pretty good team and he is clearly talented, but volatile. That's a lot of assists for a 6'8" freshman playing 23mpg.

Edit: just watched his freshman year highlight video. Forget that every shot goes in:

• He's constantly being guarded by 6'2" guards on the perimeter and it doesn't bother him at all.
• He's very good at creating space off the bounce and using high ball screens to get into the lane with hios head up.
• He's completely ambidextrous with his handle, but greatly favors his right hand at the rim, even when going left.
• He goes up pretty soft near the rim.
• His shot isn't pure, but it's fluid and I think could get there.
• Sure doesn't seem timid when they put the ball in his hands.

Given the Cupps connection and Mgbako's decision within about the next ten days? I'm intrigued.

"Sharavjamts should continue to get plenty of buzz statewide heading into his senior year, as he enrolled at Centerville to join the core of a team returning from a state title run. A fluid athlete at 6’8 who is closer to a big point guard then he is to a post, Sharavjamts is an elite passer (probably Ohio’s best in 2022), who can handle the ball and create a shot for a teammate almost at will. With his length and a good motor, Sharavjamts is able to use his athleticism to cover a lot of ground defensively, and he brings a ton of versatility to that end."

Good assist to turnover ratio as well.  Looks more like a project than a guy to step in.
