Kyle Mangas helps Indiana Wesleyan basketball stay an NAIA powerhouse (indystar.com) “It’s kind of hard sometimes because you want to play the comparison game. I’m an IU basketball fan. So I’m watching games sometimes and I’m like, ‘How could I fit out there? How could I help them?’ But I don’t want to fall into that trap because it can play with your mind. I love it at IWU. I wouldn’t change a thing.” Why not give the kid a chance? It’s a 1 year experiment. Worst case scenario he doesn’t play but helps build culture and a love for the program. Best case he contributes and helps our shooting. BtownStrength, GoIU8, HoosierDYT and 7 others 10 Quote

I just read the NAIA to NCAA transfer guidelines, and it seems that like any other transfer who has already played four years, he would only have one year of eligibility at IU. Do we really want to invest in a player who is moving up to D1 for the first time and only has one year of eligibility? I'm not sure that many kids are going to stay at a school more than 1 or 2 years the way the rules are now. Hardwood83 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Interesting trivia from Kent Sterling - Weird stat of the day! With 300 points next season, Cathedral graduate Jalen Coleman-Lands will become the first college basketball player ever to score 1,700 points without scoring more than 630 at a single school. akumanina, Hippopotamo and go iu bb 3 Quote
mike vannice Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 OK,here is my absolute dream scenario: Yasir Rosemond works his magic in the "grey area" and delivers Tamar Bates and Langston Wilson. We then announce him as the third assistant. Then we add Kyle Mangas as a preferred walk-on. Mangas comes off the bench and hits 6 3's and we knock off Purdue in Mackey and keep them from winning the Big Ten title. Averaged 25.5 pts. over his career, athletic, can handle the ball...and SHOOT! He would be a 1 and done per the free COVID year, correct? From watching the highlights, my take FWIW...... he definitely leaps better than I thought and is savvy enough to create his own shot. Still think he looks to be on the slower end for a D1 guard. Obviously can shoot the ball, that's never been in question. Do think the perimeter shooting would translate to the D1 level, -- shot is smooth, no delay, and seems able to create enough space on his own to get the shot -- not sure his ability to get to the hoop would translate. Think Nick Zeisloft is a fair comp. although Zeisloft might have been a little better pure shooter while Mangas has better body control. IUsafety and triple 2 Quote

My father and brother have been telling me for 4 years - IU could REALLY use a guy like Kyle Mangas. I am pretty sure his brother is at IU and as was stated previously in the thread he is an IU fan. There is absolutely no downside to getting this kid because he would be a great locker room guy even if he played 0 minutes. Not saying that you’re saying he will, but I absolutely cannot see Mangas getting 0 minutes or coming here without at least a larger role to start. He’s got interest from professional teams, so if he comes back to college I imagine it is to showcase his skills against better talent. Evariste Galois 1 Quote

If I had to pick between John and Race, I’d probably lean Theo John, but they play similarly. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Uspshoosier 1 Quote
