Even Calipari will at least admit when he is out-coached or his players are out-played and give credit to the other team. I don't believe I have ever heard Izzo give credit to Indiana (and I would guess never to any other team either) because he has a victim's mentality and he always has urine-poor excuses and complains about everything. I absolutely despise Tom Izzo, and because of that, MSU is the only team from the Big Ten I root against in March Madness. Yeah what an @$$! I have no idea how the officials determined 1) How there was a foul, or 2) Why the clock should say 0.6 instead of 0.2, unless they realized MSU needed more than 0.2 to get one last shot off. Just a very bizarre, even shady, sequence there. I just watched it again, too, and Tillman didn't even touch Hunter at the end. I guess it's fine to have the two extra points, but still ... Also, I wish they'd make some sort of rule as to what can and can't happen with under a second left. It's too difficult for the clock operator and officials to accurately monitor such situations. With six-tenths of a second to play, Winston caught the ball, turned and shot a 65-footer. Now, it didn't matter if he made it or not, but I just don't think it's humanly possible to do all that in just more than a half-second. I thought that years ago, when they first started indicating tenths of seconds, they said if there was :00.7 or less to play, all you could do was tip the ball. When there's less than a second to play, I just don't think it's humanly possible to catch the ball and take a jump shot. (Also, I cannot believe how fortunate we were that Tillman's tip rolled out. Reminded me of the game at Michigan in 2013. Crazy that the ball didn't go in.) Hardwood83 1 Quote

Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted January 24, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 24, 2020 SIAP. Jumped to #42 in the NET. Metrics don't like this team at the moment despite 15-4. I guess if we had Carsen Edwards last year we might be top 10. Keep in mind the overall NET ranking is used as a sorting tool. It groups teams together that have similar numbers. Once that happens they will compare the team sheets. The number inside the team sheet are way more important then the overall NET number. IU has 3 top 25 Quad 1 wins. While their NET number is 42 their resume is probably stronger then a bunch that are under them. It is just funny because Purdue is that one outlier team on Kenpom and all other metrics that stays right where they are despite the results of their games. So it annoys us IU fans. HoosierFan1994 Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 First off-the environment was amazing last night at Assembly Hall!!! Need to be like that all the time-not just for ranked teams. IU doesn't win that game without Al Durham last night. For him to play as many minutes as he does he needs to contribute at or near the level he did last night. He gave IU great minutes. Thank goodness for Joey Brunk. Wow, what a steal. I bet Butler wishes they had him. He and TJD have changed the culture for this team. Hope Race is okay, he was a monster early in the game. This team needs to take it one game at a time. I don't want to speak too soon, but last night was the most fun I've had watching this team since the tournament win over UK 4 years ago. Really hope things are headed in a good direction. That was probably one of the best if not the best win of Archie's tenure. Season was sort of at a crossroad. If we had lost we'd be in the bubble talk. Now that we won that has to bump us up. Keep winning and it'll take care of itself. And we've seen trends for 2 1/2 years that suggest the "bad" have been more prevalent than the "good". There is a lot of season left and I'd like to see how it goes. If you want to declare it a success already then go ahead but that tells me a lot about you in that case. They said the other day that IU had the toughest remaining schedule of any team in the country. I think 7-5 would mean they are finding a speed none of us expected and exceeding all expectations. I think 4-8 or 5-7 is still enough to get us safely in the tourney and would probably be a good result given the strength of the schedule remaining. thebigweave and Stuhoo 2 Quote
Stuhoo Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 5-7 for the remainder f the conference schedule would put us at 20-11, with an expectation of about one BTT win, for a total of 21-12 and about a seven or eight seed in the NCAAs. That'd be sweeeeeet. NOLA Hoosier 1 Quote
JerryYeagley23 Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Man, looking at the remaining schedules for the top half of the conference, and I literally have no confidence in predicting how things will play out. The unbalanced schedule really rears it’s ugly head for the top of the conference. MSU plays 5 of their last 8 games on the road, and 4 of their last 5 games are against teams currently ranked in the Top 25. Illinois starts Feb off with four straight games against ranked teams (@Iowa, Mary, MSU, @Rut) and then goes to PSU. Brutal stretch. Maryland is starting their tough stretch at Assembly Sun followed by 4 of their next five against ranked teams (Iowa, Rut, @Ill, Neb, @MSU), then they still have MSU at home and @Rut to end the season. Honestly, I think Iowa might have the most favorable schedule remaining. But I wouldn’t be totally shocked if the team(s) that wins the B1G has 6-7 losses. And more than that, I’m thinking there’s probably gonna be a two or three way tie for the top. Edit: I mentioned earlier that I read IU has the toughest remaining schedule in the country, but if you’re basing it on games against ranked teams, I don’t really see it. After Sunday, we only have two games remaining against currently ranked teams. Home against Iowa, and @Illinois. For comparison: Games remaining against currently ranked teams: MSU - 4 ILL - 5 Iowa - 4 Maryland - 6 Rutgers - 3 Stromboli, Stuhoo and JerryYeagley23 2 1 Quote
