rcbowla Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Are there any left on this board who still want Archie fired? Indiana won that game with two pretty benign performances by the 2 seniors. Only 10% of the minutes, 4 points, 2 rebounds,  2 assists, and 3 turnovers between them. Indiana won a game against one of the better teams in the country getting "bad DeVonte."  Assuming everyone else is back, this team is only going to get better.  We make FT's? That's a 15 point cruise.  Indiana was the better team...dominating the paint, winning points in transition, won the rebound battle, committed fewer turnovers, and shot it better from the field. And...the defensive end looks a lot more connected. Kids have clearly bought in. 15-4 with no bad losses is better than 90%+ teams in the country, boys. I still have plenty of faith in Archie Miller. He's much more calm and collected than I thought he'd be, which is a benefit for a young team. This group has no "man," but it's balanced and deep.  I like the future. Don't think 2 games are going to change people's minds one way or the other. People that wanted him fired are still extremely skeptical I'm sure and people that don't want him fired will continue to back him during poor performances. People's opinions weren't based off of just a few games here and there regardless of which way you leanSent from my Pixel 3a XL using Tapatalk MikeRoberts and Josh 2 Quote

woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I watched the game, when I got from the Wooden Shoes' game. I didn't know who won because I stayed away from Social media. I thought this was their best game of the season.did they make mistakes? Yes they did. They did not let those mistakes compound and let them become the norm. They bounced back. I don't mind mistakes when that happens. Very few, if any, games are perfect. My favorite comment I heard was everyone who played had at least 1 rebound and Scored. For the most part they all played well, but I thought Brunk, Thompson, and Phinisee played the best.Hopefully they realize they can play at a high level when they want too.Hit your FTs.Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk thebigweave 1 Quote
HoosierCoop Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Sorry, I caught as much of the game as I could last night. Had to extract vomit out of our carpet last night. OOOH fun! A couple of questions: 1. Is Phin hurt? I kept seeing bits and pieces of that being said. 2. What I did see is Winston getting all the foul calls when he himself manufacturer and acted upon it. Anyone else feel that? 3. Did the "F U" chant happen on TV or was it live? In any case is intolerable. 4. Did Green really play that bad or was i hallucinating from the smell of vomit and cleaner???? To me it looked like he cramped up at the very end, which is not at all an issue. Not me. Winston is very, very good at 'causing' contact. The best, craftiest guards know how to do that effectively. Thought the refs were absolutely excellent last night. I didn't hear it, but es no bueno. He was terrible, but he's playing hard and engaged. He's also in a big-time shooting funk, so that magnifies bad plays. He'll be a major plus down the road as long as his attitude remains positive when things aren't ducky. In other words, we've seen this before. WayneFleekHoosier and HoosierCoop 2 Quote

Green was bad. He never really looked to do anything offensively when he was out there. Barely played in the second half.  I thought Justin was pretty inefficient as well. HoosierCoop 1 Quote

Popular Post Chris007 Posted January 24, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 24, 2020 I've been hard on Green and Smith over the years. Green is pressing a little to get out of his shooting slump. But he is being a great teammate on the sideline when he's not in the game. Smith is being a leader. He is helping the younger guys and he is not acknowledging his mistakes on the court. Instead of arguing with coaches saying it's not his fault, he's now saying yes that was my mistake. Bruiser earned his money with his talk to the players at the under 8 timeout.  taco corp, HoosierDYT, lillurk and 19 others 22 Quote
NashvilleHoosier Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Great win. Happy to see so many things last night but just name a few...best game Race Thompson has ever played for us? Brunk....just keep getting after it buddy. We love you. And Durham finally playing like we know he can. Interesting resume scenario coming up here. I'm not looking past the Maryland game at all, but OSU is obviously in a free fall. They are currently still a quad 1 win, but we very well could go to Columbus where a win would simply replace a quad 1 win with another. (i.e. the road win would count as a quad 1 win, but simultaneously knock them far enough down the NET rankings to make our home win a quad 2 win). Especially since they follow us with road games at Michigan and Wisky. Not saying a win there hurts us, that will never be the case, just an interesting possible scenario. Okay enough of that. What a huge opportunity on Sunday now. IF....IF we pull it off, would we have the best overall resume in the conference? (I've done no research on this, I just can't think off the top of my head who else would have 4 quad 1 wins). Stuhoo and Chris007 2 Quote
IUc2016 Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 SIAP. Jumped to #42 in the NET. Metrics don't like this team at the moment despite 15-4. I guess if we had Carsen Edwards last year we might be top 10. Deserthoozier and BGVille Hoosierfan 2 Quote
HoosierDribbler Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I noticed during the players post-game press it looked like Joey leaned over and slapped TJD on the knee several times. It appears these guys really enjoy each other and that's starting to show on the court as a team. I love what Joey brings to the team. Great win last night. Just listened to Archie's and Izzy's post-game pressers ... Man, Izzy is one angry, bitter old cuss at us, and I'm guessing it's because we fired his buddy, Crean. He's probably pissed about that on two fronts: 1) They're friends; 2) He probably figured that nine times out of 10, he could beat Crean. He said that tonight, a kid who hits 12 percent makes the 3 to put us ahead. I'm presuming he's referring to Al? He wasn't shooting great, but was better than 12 percent. ... And he said MSU has to take everyone's best shots and everywhere they go, it's a sellout and the fact that our fans were supposed to wear red shirts was, essentially, a tribute to how tough MSU is -- because those kinds of promotions are usually reserved for weekends. Huh? Last year, he fussed about injuries after both games and fussed about how a crummy shooter like Justin Smith went off during the game in Bloomington.   Tom Izzo is my least favorite coach in all of college basketball. I despise him and cannot stomach his arrogant attitude or his cry-baby antics. Even Calipari will at least admit when he is out-coached or his players are out-played and give credit to the other team. I don't believe I have ever heard Izzo give credit to Indiana (and I would guess never to any other team either) because he has a victim's mentality and he always has urine-poor excuses and complains about everything. I absolutely despise Tom Izzo, and because of that, MSU is the only team from the Big Ten I root against in March Madness. Joey looked emotional when Trace was talking about the positive attributes he brings to the team and then slapped him on the knee in appreciation.  I think this team has a closeness that was missing on last year's squad and also think the newcomers are a huge reason for it.That includes Franklin also. But then again I was highly intoxicated at that point and may have misinterpreted what I saw. HoosierAloha, Napleshoosier, thebigweave and 4 others 7 Quote
mdn82 Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020  When was the other throwing incident? I only remember the one close to Vic. And did they escort that person out? I saw the students pointing and ratting him out and security come down the steps but that was it. And the chant...I was NOT pleased about at all. I fully agree, we are better than that.   Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appPregame we saw a group flipping coins at MSU players from behind the basket. One of the MSU staff went over and talked to the group. There was a group of three or four girls. Didn’t make it a big deal. The students showed up last night. I don’t know how it came across tv, but that was the hottest in person crowd I have been to since the UNC game in November 2012. Personally I think they won us that game. Izzo kept them in the locker room until 3 minutes before the game started which is unusual for him. I think a lot had to do with how hot the students were before the game started.   Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app thebigweave 1 Quote
