Alford Bailey Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 Glass should be brought in this morning and be informed his hire was bad, he will not be involved in hiring the new coach and he can retire immediately or we will escort you from the building. Then begin proceedings to hire the new AD and organize a search committee for the new HC behind the scenes of course. That is how any serious program would handle this. That is the real world. coonhounds, mark1981, Loaded Chicken Sandwich and 1 other 4 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted February 17, 2020 Author Posted February 17, 2020 So to make sure our negativity is being directed accurately. Over the last 5 losses we have been 28-75 shooting the three ball. Lack of shooting isn’t causing these losses. Optional effort, Stupid line ups, terrible FT shooting and good old fashion terrible finishing around the rim is causing these losses. lillurk, mark1981 and Alford Bailey 3 Quote

Not sure about this morning......but Fred should be told his last day is March 31st, New AD announced on 4/1 (no jokes :)) and then by May 1st we have a REAL Coach behind the wheel of this program again. Based on some chatter, I really don't think that is out of the question. And Yes...if the reports of Beiline are true, IU should have representatives camping outside on his lawn with a Brinks truck with them. Alford Bailey 1 Quote
coonhounds Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 I am shocked at this point anyone thinks he gets four years. There is alot of ball left to play but I am confident we will only compound the devastation from this point forward. It's going to get uglySent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk OldBuddy67 1 Quote

HoosierFan1994 Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 I'm just torn. I want to give Archie time. You look at Beilein and Bennett, their first years were not that great. However, the lack of effort just bothers me. There are no adjustments made by the coaching staff. Archie had two scholarships for this year. The players are out there. At the minimum, Archie needs to bring in new assistants for next year. Some change has to be made. IUc2016, Trish, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote

How do you leave 2 schollys open when you know how bad our guard play is? Unless he simply couldnt convince anyone to come? Zero bright spots in the program to point to right now. lillurk and MikeRoberts 2 Quote

Year 3 not only did they make the tournament but Virginia had the most wins (22) in 17 years. His start there may have been slow but you could see improvement year to year. TheWatShot Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 Everyone keeps acting like Archie left two scholarships open intentionally. I think he tried to fill them, and just couldn't. Some coaches are recruiters, and others aren't. Right now, Archie Miller is not a recruiter. Recently, I was reading some posts on a Dayton board, just to see if they had any insight into our current struggles. One poster said he thought Miller might struggle to recruit at a high level because he's too much of an introvert. Recruiters recruit. Archie Miller is not a recruiter. lillurk, HooHooHoo22 and Hoosierfan2017 3 Quote
bigrod Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 So, I've gone from fully believing Archie was going to be the answer, to hoping he could put together a decent team, to realizing he just doesn't have it. For a while I thought he was too stubborn to change anything, but now I think he is just not capable. He seems to be the only one who still thinks he has a system that can beat anyone, any place, with whatever time to prepare. How long can you continue to beat that square peg into the round hole before you realize it will not fit? I'm guessing at least 4 years. But seriously, what good coach is out there who is willing to take over this program? I know many keep acting like we can just throw money around and get whoever we want, but I just don't see that happening. I want to believe that the next one will finally be the right coach, but nothing I have seen makes me think we won't whiff yet again. Quote

If they want assistants paid - freaking pay them and shut up. Wins and consistent elite 8/final four runs will solve everything. That isn't going to happen with Archie, another mid-major coach, or heaven forbid they do something completely stupid like hire Dane Fife as our next HC. I simply have no faith in our admin to make anything happen other than sit and watch Archie struggle for another year. 8bucks and Napleshoosier 2 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 I’d take 6-8 years of Beilein if it meant the program was on stable ground before he retired. I’m just not sold on the administration making the right hire after he would retire. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Napleshoosier and southsidehoosier 2 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 In the proverbial "if the season ended today" scenario, we'd play Nebraska in the B1G tourney for the right to play Rutgers. That's just sad ... And three of the top five seeds -- 1. Maryland; 2. PSU; 5. Rutgers -- would be newbies (sorry, but to me, PSU always will be a newcomer). Quote
