Uspshoosier Posted June 28, 2019 Author Posted June 28, 2019 So is he acting as like an interim assistant I take it? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appDuring a recruiting period a staff is allowed 4 coaches to be out recruiting. While Archie looks to fill the position he will act as the 4th coach out recruiting. Calbert did the same thing on Creans staff. He filled in during the recruiting evaluation while Crean was hiring new assistant. I’m not 100 percent on this but I think they only fill in on the recruiting periods and don’t do any of the other responsibilities an assistant coach would have. Sounds like Schilling’s contract was only 2 years and maybe just didn’t get renewed Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app thebigweave, ElectricBoogaloo, ap2345 and 2 others 5 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Mark Galloway is a really, really, really good, and experienced coach. The kind of guy we could consider whether he had a son who plays or not. Yes, he has a talented roster; I assume that as head coach at Culver, he needed to recruit 'inside-out' to accomplish that task. His talent level wasn't as high as the LaLu team with Brooks and Isaiah Stewart which his kids out played this past season. And, state champs don't happen by accident. I’m sure our compliance department could find a way to turn this into a violation. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app MemphisHoosier 1 Quote
ebridges24 Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Doesn't this really smell of something bad happening with Schilling. Not having a known assistant on the recruiting trail seems really bad. I don't know, but with the timing, something stinks. (and it's not me) Quote

He is a really good coach and prolly would make a good college coach. I don't know if the Carmel fiasco would cause any issues. Quote

Uspshoosier Posted June 28, 2019 Author Posted June 28, 2019 Is he recognizable? In the college basketball world I would say yes as far as recruits probably not as much but not sure how many 3rd assistant coaches are recognizable to recruits unless the coaches have on their teams logo Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app lillurk 1 Quote
Alford Bailey Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Yes recruiting woes doomed Schilling. Also if rumors were true about not getting along with Ostrom well he had no chance. I know Eds father in law so I will get the story eventually. Quote
Alford Bailey Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 The replacement NEEDS to be able to recruit. Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Guyton or Jeffries would be fantastic imo. If we can do better, then great, but either of these 2 would be nice. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners lillurk and Str8Hoosiers 2 Quote
8bucks Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Don’t programs often wait to announce the next assistant in cases like this because before they are officially hired they can recruit during dead periods? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners MemphisHoosier, yogisballin and thebigweave 3 Quote
JSHoosier Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Does Jeffries have coaching experience? I'd love having Guyton on the bench. JaybobHoosier 1 Quote

Either something happened forcing the move from Archie or Something happened where Schilling was done. The timing of the VanEyl stuff is just too coincidental not to be a part of all this. Does this kid actually have an offer? Lol. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app ebridges24 1 Quote
