Sometimes we tend to go through life and think we're really having, or have had, it tough. Then you read stories like this and realize...holy crap! My life hasn't been so bad compared to what this person has experienced! A parent walking away from you has got to be one of the most crushing blows that could happen to a young child. Not sure why but Devonte has been my favorite player at IU the last 3 seasons. He can be frustrating at times but I like something about his game. Hope he stays and excels next year. Count me as one of the people who thinks IU could make a step in a positive direction next year. It'll require health, the addition of maybe a key player(or two), and some guys working to develop themselves but I think sometimes it's just as important how parts fit together as it is how much talent those parts have. Maybe I'm just a hopeless optimist, idk but I'm ready. LockdownD, DJ Candypants, Ranger78 and 7 others 9 1 Quote

Hope he can find success at the next level. I read that article when Doyel wrote it. 1) I thought it was disgraceful that he would put a family's private financial business out for public consumption like that. 2) on the other hand? That's not a burden that any parent should lay on their 19 year old child. If he wants to return? I'd hope he would tell them, I'm not responsible for your decisions. I love you and will help you financially at some point in time if I'm able but this is my life and I'm going to walk my own path. I'd hope as parents that's what they'd encourage him to do so. Popular Post Hoosier Guy Posted April 3, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 3, 2019 That article does make one appreciate Devonte as a person. That’s difficult stuff to go through at such a young age. I’m rooting even harder for him now Ranger78, ellen.walden, hoosierdogg and 5 others 8 Quote

cthomas Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Like it or not, big time college basketball puts kids in the public spotlight. For better or worse, their life and those around them is open to scrutiny. I personally don't like it, but that's the world we live in. It's also the reason I want the best possible outcome for the kids, no matter where they choose to play. Kepner 1 Quote

That's delivering pizza's 8 hours a week at night and certainly isn't Romeo's responsibility. jonz44 1 Quote
Popular Post RaceToTheTop Posted April 3, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 3, 2019 I have to say that at 19 years old if I knew my family had some financial difficulties and I could makes a lot of guaranteed money right away, they wouldn't have to ask me to do it.....I would be doing it. 19 year old me, 25 year old me, 50 year old me are all different people....kids do have a loyalty to their family and really aren't mentally independent yet. If they were, we wouldn't care what a high school senior's father or mother thought about IU because it wouldn't make a difference in their decision. But it does. Sat down and showed his text messages too a reporter and spilled the beans on how things went with Addidas and the Langford’s. Interesting how his memory and text messages were perfectly intact here, but all forgotten or lost for Bowen! HoosierAloha, ElectricBoogaloo, jonz44 and 8 others 11 Quote

If somebody else has reported it, and it's likely to be a factor in Romeo's decision, which is the biggest story for the team, he can't really ignore it. It's public knowledge. You could debate whether the original Washington Post article was in poor taste, but now that it's out there, it's very relevant to Romeo's situation. Class of '66 Old Fart and Stuhoo 2 Quote

Kepner Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Seeing more rumblings of Jamie Dixon to UCLA. My dream scenario would be him going there and Desmond Bane coming to IU as a grad transfer Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote
IUrocker Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 If any other transfers were happening, would we have known of them by now and the news been released? I’m not saying I hope to see anyone else go, but it sure helps paint a better picture of the situation heading into next season as far as how many more guys we have to try to get to commit if additional players on the current roster aren’t going to be here. Honkyman Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 There may be a player or two who decides to leave the program depending upon who is brought in either as a graduate transfer or a new recruit. If Trendon Watford would choose Indiana, for example, we might see one of the "bigs" decide to leave because that would mean less playing time. JaybobHoosier and DChoosier 2 Quote

Honkyman Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 (edited) Even bringing in Joey Brunk might prompt one of the current front court player to decide to leave as a result of reduced playing time. Edited April 3, 2019 by Honkyman Bailey7878 and Kepner 2 Quote
