Good time to start seeing some addition by subtraction. I hope the kid nothing but the best but the negativity around the kid had to go. I am guessing there was a complaint and then an ultimatum. He took the highway option. We need people that want to be here. Forward.

He should have some schools to reach out to him. He looked completely out of it yesterday, almost scared in a sense.

 

Now we need to find another guard. We're forward heavy going into next year..

For the record, last season in 33 games Jones averaged 11.2 min/game.  He shot 35% from the field and the same % on his 3's, averaging 3.5 ppg.  He had 31 assists to 24 TO's and 14 steals.

This season through 7 games, he averaged 11.4 min/game.  He was shooting 27% from the field and only 22% on his 3's, averaging 3.0 ppg.  He had 3 assists to 2 TO's and 3 steals.

We sorely needed better production from him and it's simply not there.  No hard feelings; wish him the best and hope he finds the right school.

When we were recruiting him, Georgetown, Oklahoma State and California were the other schools he was considering.

There is no doubt that a different culture is being created and, quite honestly, one needed to be. The hope is that kids will embrace it and step up, and toughen up, but that's not always the case. Coach Miller is so much different than Coach Crean that we should have known this wouldn't be an easy transition. He is recruiting different kids intended for a different style of play. The kids we have now can embrace the challenge or move on. It's that simple. I wish the best for them whichever they choose. But, make no mistake, things are going to be different in B-town.

Wish him luck.  Bottom line is that when a player is in there to provide shooting and they can hit shots, they can't play.  Going forward, I didn't see that changing much when we have some nice wings coming in.

He never, never played with intensity on either end of the court, and especially did not do so on the defensive end.

So, I get the impression that he’s a nice kid, but should not be playing for Indiana University.

Sounds to me like he was told bad shots are no longer tolerated in volume; you have to guard somebody; and you have to be effective the 90% of the time you don't have the ball in your hands.    And bailed.

I can't take credit for this as it was tweeted by Chronic Hoosier. This is a huge reason Crean was shown the door. I highly doubt Jones is the last Crean player/recruit that leaves or is dismissed from the program. It amazes me that Crean had so many transfers/dismissals.

That's insane. Not counting this year's class because we don't know what they'll do, 20 of Crean's 42 recruits either transferred or were dismissed. 9 players completed their eligibility. Seeing the numbers is mind boggling.

Cujo didnt fit in Archies system and im not sure he fit in Creans either. Was probably too highly ranked coming out of HS. Good luck to him.

I’ve seen this before, but don’t really understand it. We have Anderson, Hunter, Phinsee, and possibly Langford. Durham and Green are still on the roster. Why do we need more guards?

Anderson will not be getting major mins. And if we don't get Langford.. we badly need a grad transfer.
