Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 I agree that it is Chuck's job to get us in the door and Crean's to close. Illini have a solid staff as well. Sadly I expect us, them, MSU, Wisky and UM as well as Purdue to be the top of the B1G for awhile. On another note there is a few people on twitter saying we wanted Travis Steele first and it was him or Schilling's job. Groce was never seriously considered due to wanting a HC job. I think we got the right guy definitely. Steele is a up and comer as well though. Steele and Schilling would have been an absolute monster of a staff.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app ebridges24 1 Quote
MikeRoberts Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 I live in NC and the vast majority of the UNC and Duke fans don't even know who THEIR asst coaches are.Sooo, that proves my point that these hires didn't put the rest of the college basketball world on notice that a sleeping giant has been awaken (paraphrasing the posters comments that I was commenting on) not many people outside of IU are even paying attention or care.... that was my pointSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

The ones who do are the true diehards. Not as many of those as you would think these days.Anyone on this board that now lives out of state can attest to the differences in avid/rabid followings. Popular Post rebelhoosier848891 Posted April 10, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 10, 2017 If the projected staff becomes official --it looks strong. I trust Archie got who he wanted. Wednesday meeting with Romeo is a good place to start. So--it appears we are now "loaded for bear". Hoosier Guy Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Archie said that he will recruit with an inside/out approach. He's the type of guy that means what he says. Great times ahead my fellow Hoosiers! Kepner, ALASKA HOOSIER and Dalton26 3 Quote

Capt. Crimson Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 It just occurred to me that it could have very well been an easy sell to get Schilling away from UCLA as he is big on player development. I can only imagine dealing with LaVar Ball must have been a nightmare for him. theriverpilot, Hoosierfan2017, Napleshoosier and 3 others 6 Quote
Popular Post Class of '66 Old Fart Posted April 10, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 10, 2017 The time: The present The place: Office of Fred Glass, Athletic Director of Indiana University. Fred: “Miss Moneypincher get me Steve Alford on the phone.” Miss Moneypincher buzzes Fred’s office: “Mr. Alford on line 2.” Fred: “Hello Steve, I thought it time we had a little….” Steve interrupting: “Fred old man. I knew that thing with Miller was going to blow up in your face and you’d come calling on bended knee.” Fred: “Well Steve I’m…” Steve interrupting again: “Just so we’re clear, this now puts me totally in the driver’s seat and I have quite a list of demands I’ll expect you to meet.” Fred: “Steve, just wait a moment.” Steve: “No waiting Fred. If you don’t meet my demands, I’ll make you look like a total laughing stock. And that stuff with Pierce at Iowa and the rumor and innuendo at New Mexico, those IU fans will totally forget about that stuff once they know I’m in charge of the program. So let’s get down to the nitty gritty shall we? Fred: “Well Steve, actually Archie is still our head coach and to be brutally honest you were never a high priority or viable candidate. This is purely a courtesy call to tell you that we’re hiring Ed Schilling to be an assistant coach for Archie.” Click Fred: “Hello. Hello. Anyone there?” Fred hangs up the phone with the grin of the cheshire cat. theriverpilot, moyemayhem, HoosierAloha and 15 others 18 Quote

Just gotta think that 1) Working with an up and coming HC at a blue blood program and 2) Not having to deal with LaVar Ball for 2 more years has got to be an easy decision for Schilling ramadden13 1 Quote

Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Dayton fans dont seem to be to fond of Ostrom. Talking with a few on twitter now. Saying he was Daytons bagman. Lol who knows with them. Some aren't happy at all. Don't blame them, Archie is about to be a top 10 coach probably higher within 3-5 years. Hopefully he can keep this staff in place.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Kepner 1 Quote
