HoosierReb01 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Was talking to a UK fan at work today. He was telling me that the IU guys in his office had read a post over at Inside the Hall where the suggestion was made to get 75,000 alumni to donate $100 each and buy CTC out. Then he offered to pitch in a few bucks himself. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 The thought for Glass needs to be: Is there anyway Crean can win back the fanbase? It almost seems it's beyond repair at this point. I don't honestly know HOW much winning it will take to gain the faith of the fanbase again. I can't even answer that question on my own as a fan. I really don't know what it would take to be won back. This season will be interesting because either we tank and the decision is very easy. We win some and it's still fairly easy or we win enough to get like a 5 or 6 seed and the fanbase doesn't rally but the results are decent. Going to be interesting for sure. Popular Post BGleas Posted December 3, 2015 Popular Post Posted December 3, 2015 I made a post to this effect on another board, but I'll make it here too. First, let me be clear. I am not actively rooting against IU. It's not like that. I didn't tune in last night wanted Duke to win. But, I'd be lying if I didn't say that during the St. Johns game I was checking the score throughout the day at work and there was a little part of me hoping St. John's would come back. Not because I hate Crean. He's a good person. But, he's not the guy and I'm just tired of not being excited about IU basketball anymore. I'm tired of the constant "will he/won't he be fired". The worst case scenario is that we bounce back enough to be a 7ish seed and moving on from Crean at the end of the year is a grey area, and then we're stuck with another year of hot seat talk, etc.I wanted this season to be a grand slam (win the conference, make a tourney run, be a top ranked team, etc.) or clear cut that we're moving on to a new coach. That middle ground is the worst case scenario for IU basketball. The thought for Glass needs to be: Is there anyway Crean can win back the fanbase? It almost seems it's beyond repair at this point. Kind of ties in with me last post admitting I have been wrong, we fire him mid season after a tumultuous start when I would say the majority of fans are ready for it including fencers, don't give them the chance to barely sneak in a tourney and be mediocre again and let the fencers back on the other side. We have to stop playing the he's lost the fan base, well now he has some back, oops now he lost them again. We need to do it at the right time so we don't continue to settle for mediocrity, and I finally am on board saying o think now is the best time. But I do agree with you, the next few months will be interesting to see how things pan out. WayneFleekHoosier and MikeRoberts 2 Quote
KingPG21 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 So lets say we miss the NCAA tournament this year, honestly don't think this will happen, but I'd be shocked if we make it past our first game, let alone our second one. Is there even a chance the buy out happens? On another note would any fan in the fan base even support the guy anymore? I mean he would have missed the NCAA tourney with this roster, and missed it two times in three years. I'd welcome back some of the bigger Crean supporter's just to see why they'd still support this type of performance. Quote
Uwe Robb Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 lol, I made that comment on here a year ago. 'bout got my ass ran off the board. I believe statistically the Fball team (116) has a higher ranked Defense, than the (148) basketball team I know there are about 3x as many CBB D-1 teams as there are CFB but we have the whole season yet. If we don't learn to be tougher on defense the big ten will be tough to get wins. If we make the tourney imo we will have improved significantly because the way we are playing we won't make it. We are playing worse then the way we were at the end of last year and we barely got in. We got a higher seed than deserved because of how we played early in the season. It will be no cake walk from where we are sitting now trust me Quote

OliviaPope40 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I think we could get Brad Stevens I mean come on both him and his wife Tracy are both from Indiana and have family here so how is that not enough. Plus the cost of living isn't as high here as it is in Boston and Tracy could open up her own law practice if she wanted to. Quote

All it's going to take is a loss to Notre Dame in Indy for everything to just completely fall apart before the conference season even starts. Alford Bailey 1 Quote
Magnanimous Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I don't think Crean is gone until after the season. We have ND and cupcakes until conference play starts, and we have a favorable conference slate considering a lot of our big ones are at home. This team is a mess, but AH appears to be worth 15 points to them, and they do play with more intensity and cohesion at home. We start Big10 play @Rutgers and @Nebraska. Then we get some bigger boys, but they're at home. We're going to get killed in Madison and East Lansing, but I have a feeling we could steal one against UM in Ann Arbor. For whatever reason Crean has Beilein's number. We only play MSU once, get Maryland at home, can beat Illinois in both places, could possibly split with Purdue, can play @Minnesota, may compete @Iowa, should beat Penn State, should be NW, hopefully sweep Nebraska, etc. It's a very favorable schedule that other than @UW and @MSU gives us a lot of our tougher games at home, such as Maryland and OSU who we both only play once. I know this team looks helpless, but if the Vonleh team beat #3 Wisconsin, I wouldn't put it past them to steal a few. Unless we have a final stretch collapse ala Bruce Weber's last season in Champaign, Crean will finish the season. Quote

I would argue that we lose almost all the road games and will throw in a stinker or two at home where we don't shoot well and therefore lose by double digits to a team we should beat by double digits. Alford Bailey Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Having Skjodt and Nunn behind the bench for that debacle certainly won't help Crean. Any other boosters at the game? Quote
coonhounds Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 We haven't been tested at home. We looked like crap against Alcorn st. I think we lose all but the wake forest game in the hall. We need to be tested for me to believe anything at home Quote
