  1. Got a feeling he'll be wearing No. 9 -- even if by accident. Manager: "Hey Clemens, you got a preference for your jersey number?" Sokolov: "Nein." Manager: "You got it!"

  6. I love Dan. Got to talk to him on a couple occasions and even got to play some pickup games with him when I was younger. My uncle, Louie Dampier is really good friends with Dan. They played together with the Colonels back in the ABA.

  7. I don't know man, I see next year's roster compared to last year's....we have 8-10 players who might potentially contribute...we had 4 1/2 last season. We won't have to watch 2-4 dudes play 38+ mins a night, then Peter out late in the season. We had 3 players who contributed 0 last season. 0. Enright and Bailey would be the 11th and 12th guys on the current roster, and they started a ton last season. The holes aren't nearly as glaring as they were last year in my opinion.

  15. Went to HS about 10 mins from me and saw them a couple of times over a couple of years. That kid is not even a break the glass big. He is a “Oh God, everyone to the bomb shelter now” big. Strictly cannon fodder for the white jerseys. But he’s not unathletic. If he’s scholly #13 and you want to see what you’ve got after a year of getting his a$$ whooped by Sherrell that’s ok with me. He’s probably got a better chance than Acimovic because he moves better. And the stroke’s alright.

  16. How good do they think it is? I’m thinking it is 11-9 or 12-8 conference record and 6-9 seed good. That’d be pretty good, especially if most of the same group returned for a second year at IU the year after.

  22. Here is where different bigs mentioned here that are still available would rank IU's roster. Note that currently IU is ranked 25 by Torvik Junjie Wang, San Francisco -- improves team, but no ranking change (25) Devin Williams, FAU -- up 3 spots (22) Jordan Burks, UCF -- up 3 spots (22) Aaron Bradshaw, Memphis -- up 3 spots (22) Musa Sagnia, NC State -- no improvement Steven Olowoniyi, Oregon State -- no improvement David Fuchs, San Francisco -- up 1 spot (24) can not check either Conrad Luczyski or Ja'Quay Randolph since they were D2 last year Okechukew Okeke, Albany -- no improvement Yaak Yaak, Oregon State -- no improvement Just for ***** and giggles, Allen Graves would move up IU 10 spots (15) Robert Miller, LSU -- up 3 spots (22) Austin Mauer, Seattle -- up 1 spot (24) Hamad Mousa, Cal Poly -- up 3 spots (22) I can check others if names are thrown out. IMO, Burks would be hard get -- he's coming off a season of 13.3 ppg and 4.8 rpg with a power 5 team. Allen Graves was just thrown in to see what could be done with unlimited $ for the next spot. The need for another big right now is to get someone in to make the floor higher mainly and raise the ceiling slightly. There HAS to be at least one more capable big in case of injury and there an argument that should obtain two more bigs to protect from injury. Y'all know I love Devin Williams case for a roster spot but I think he might be overpricing himself. Aaron Bradshaw would be a safe pick. Ja'Quay Randolph put up monster numbers at the D2 level but no idea how he translates; he did play three games against low D1 schools last season (Kennesaw State, Citadel, and South Carolina Upstate) and averaged 11.3 pts and 8.7 rebounds in those three games. Robert Miller put up 6 points and 4 rebounds in 20 mpg at LSU and is another safe pick.

  23. FWIW, and it's just my useless opinion, I think Duke is on another level. They're the highest funding in CBB, with deep recruiting ties including with Nike, a sterling brand with big exposure, and a track record of being really good every year. UM we're closer to, but they outspent us pretty good last year and this year we're closer, but still short. After a natty they'll get whatever they ask for. I think CDD made a huge mistake with the lack of multi-year guys in season one. We had all these one year dudes and the multi-year guys were not developed/retained (Trent a little). So we had another total rebuild, which personally I found very disappointing. Okay, our W/L in season one was not great, but at least develop some pieces for season two! C'mon, think long term here. I don't think it's possible to build a conf title winner/F4 team entirely scratch in one portal. Even if we had $25M. With no roster continuity, it's so hard to get 10 new guys to gel such that they can win really big. Just my opinion. I agree with pretty much all the concerns people voice on this board. We need more front court depth. We have question mark players CDD/Carr/staff better be right on... though this pretty normal every year. Best case I can see is we hit on almost all the new guys, they improve as the year goes on, and we get like a 5 seed or better and make the S16. Then return most of the roster, which is possible with all our multi-year guys (nice work!), and go into a portal needing only a few players. We'd be selling an attractive situation -- a S16 team on the rise. IUBB is back baby! Bring in a few high end portal players and then season three of CDD we're thinking conference title and F4. Is this likely? It's IUBB. Be optimistic at your own peril. I could type out a downside scenario, but we all know what that would look like... I've got to say I'm surprised we spent so much money. The thinking was $13-14M, now it's closer to $20M. This rachets up the expectations this season... which is good. Big pressure on CDD this year. This season is now much more interesting than I thought it was going to be. I'm looking forward to games in Peru now.

  25. Why can’t we be Duke or Michigan? I didn’t say we couldn’t be; I said we’re not. We have been a low performance program for decades that has yet to establish itself as anything but that. So if our talent evaluation and player development overachieve and prove to the best players that we are a destination, we can be. Until then? Enjoy IU football, because that’s exactly who we are in the highest profile sport.

  26. If I like my job and where I am living the only way I would move is if there was a significant different in the salary if I moved on to a new job. And there are certainties in staying -- bonds with friends I've made, having more of a known role, etc. It isn't as simple as just going to whoever offers the most money.

  28. He was 35.8% from three last year at P5 basketball Nova (which is completely solid). That's the number that should translate, moreso than his 40% from three the prior year in small conference ball. Also a fan of the fact that he played 28.5 mpg for a Nova tournament team; he was one of their featured players.

  34. That's because Landenborg was able to guard 1-5 and played some point guard on offense. When you get a very rare 6'10 player like that it opens lots of possibilities. Again; that is a very, very rare player.

  35. I stand by what I said -- there are hundreds of players sitting at the end of bench because they haven't even shown they are capable of being a low major player. We already have three freshman whom we don't know if they will be in the rotation -- if we have developmental players at the 12 and 13 positions then what you are saying is that we potentially have only eight players that could be valued as rotational players,

  36. There haven’t been major signings in the whole nation for the past three or four days. It seems to be a quiet time with most of the major players committed. We are in a much better position than expected based on who we have. Now it’s time to scheme them up and coach them up.

  40. Nah. I very much believe we will field a full 13 man roster and don't see much reason to think otherwise yet. Not a ton of portal activity in general right now. Schools are either saving for NBA draft drop outs or evaluating slim pickings in the portal or going to Europe because they're generally more affordable and polished. Those Euro guys won't be available until midway through the summer or so for the most part. It doesn't seem like any news is on the horizon but given timelines I think that's fine for now. I'll be concerned a bit if we aren't hearing anything come mid June.

Iowa is a top 25 team and has fantastic offensive line development. Programs of that caliber (just like IU) are going to sell development and results, not guarantees of anything. Highly ranked, confident recruits largely want that; not any promises, because they think that they will rise to the top if allowed to compete for a role. So if this kid loves the vibe at Iowa and commits there? I get it. If he loves IU even more and commits to us? I get that too and think it would be the best decision he'll ever make.

  44. Personally I'd like a real backup/bench point to go w/a big, don't really have a feel for Lindsay's ability to run point Edit - I don't know much about his game on ball, have seen him classified as a PG and also just as a guard, averaged under 3 APG at Villanova, I take it a combo guard. I feel better about about where we are on ball after reading up on him, but still think we need another on ball guard - jmo
